Othello Supersonic December 12, 2002 Share December 12, 2002 hey guys, tot of juz changing the muffler to get the bassy growl...not too loud.....but from the posts, read that low end will probably be lost......i like to know...how bad is it??? if only slight loss in power, then can seriously consider...... ↡ Advertisement
Kianbeng Clutched December 12, 2002 Share December 12, 2002 not too loud pls! Hey, think you better get it done in sillipore if you really want. They should be safer + legal. Coz I think msian ones are super cheap and super big. Super illegal in sillipore also. So big, that you can almost fit your head into it.
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 12, 2002 Share December 12, 2002 If you change just the rear muffler to a similar diameter straight thru box the low end loss will be marginal, do that if you just want sound. For performance exhaust mod must consider the extractor plus pipe diameter from extractor to rear muffler.
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 Just make sure the pipe's the same diameter to minimise low end loss. Assuming you want it for the sound.
Cool Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 Currently, with the current setup of your car.. you have already low end lost of power.. Check with the YVR guys which I did the grounding and apollo for, they did a test to find out how the stock setup fair. cheers.
Cool Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 Hi mike.. Just to share with you.. I had my rolla changed to 2 inch all the way to the extractor.. More power at high end but low end lost. The problem of my rolla was that after the Cat, it was only 1.2 inch then progressively to 2 inch up to the flexible joint of the the Muffler. So, I got the entire pipes all changed to carbonize steel 2 inch. Lucky, my apollos (had to use 2 sets) to compensate the lost of low end.. cheers. Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 2" is too big for your rolla. There loss of backpressure, hence loss low end. Best is to check the diameter of the stock pipes and then add 1/4". For every unit increment in diameter, the volume is increased by 8 units!
Cool Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 THanks.. just took a look at the pipe.. the stock pipe is 1.5 inch, not progressive. cheers
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 My stock exhaust piping is 2".
Mondeo Neutral Newbie December 13, 2002 Share December 13, 2002 U mean now u can increased more high end power, and not lost the low end after repiping the whole pipe and added the apollos. But should u order the new cat or re-mod the new cat to suit your bigger pipe? So yr extractor also is new one since stock pipe is too small compared 1.2inch to 2 inches? Really interesting and exciting, can't wait for my G-tech arrival.

Will definitely remove the sparetyre, tool box and subwoofer temporarily. Too bad I can't remove the 2nd sparetyre I'm carrying!
