Neutral Newbie

Hi All,

I'm new to ICE. Is there anyone who install or heard the SQ of Rainbow speaker SLX 265 and SLC 265? Thinking of upgrading my stock speaker. Other brands and model recommendations are welcome. I am going for SQ and usually listens to Jazz, sentimental and some pop music. I prefer speakers with clarity and bass as I do not intend to install woofer.

Hi,

It's recommended that you have a sub to cover the low frequencies, small one is better than none.

There are very few component that'll produce sufficient bass by themselves. Good component are very expensive +/- $1k & you will need really good amp to let their quality comes thru.

Another alternative would be to run a pair of good 6x9 n the rear to help out in the bass department.

Hi SLONEZ,

Thanks for the recommendation. Might install a small sub at a later date due to budget. Btw, how's the SQ of the 2 Rainbow speakers? My budget is $300-$400, any other recommendation?

Is it? Must hear to experience Normally 6X9 is not as expensive compared to components. 100 plus to 200 should be enough. So I got a shock when i saw your price. Must be good then!

So bro, what does your system consist of now?

Personally have not heard the Rainbow so no comment.

Popular component speakers in that price range invlude CDT CL61, DLS UR6S, Clarion HX series, Canton 2.16 (personally I find the tweeter too much sibilence) & Boston Acoustic.

I understand that some of the Kicker, Infinity & Alpine also quite good.

I've heard 2 pretty good 6 x 9, Boston Acoustics at Edison & Addzest (Clarion Japan).

It is best for you to go and check it out and listen yourself. Each liking may not be the same, depending your type of music. If without a good amp, you will also not get the full specs of the speakers. Front door sound proofing should be able to enhance alot more if you are using quality speakers.

Rainbow is well known in Germany and it is only made in Germany. Unless you meet with a kuchin kurup shop.

You will not regret having them. Front component + rear should be around 750 to 850 (base on that mention model) depending which shop you go to.

Both Rainbow and Eton are good German handmade speaker brand and they are popular in Europe.

Should be able find alot of info of these info in Eurpopean audio web-sites.

Rainbow has quite a number of retails shop but Eton is harder to find.

Hi, I'm using Rainbow speaker for my front. Dunno which model but all I can say is that the sound quality is very clear with my new Pioneer HU DEH-7750. As for the bass, I use a 10' Twister dual coil subwoofer to mark up the bass. I use my pre-amp to control my mid and woofer volume. I may change my rear speaker to CDT CL62 as Rainbow speaker are very costly. Heard that CDT CL62 is comparable to Rainbow speaker and cheaper. Hope this two speaker can match in my car, else sound like sxxt.
