I kind of like the sound of Alpine 7998. I sound that beside it is feature packed, the sound is very solid, crisp and natural.

Hey there... any comment any other HU can match the quality>

For "audiophile" quality that are still "affordable", I go with Clarion HX-D1 or HX-D2.

Alpine, Pioneer & Mcintosh also have very high end HU but their price [sweatdrop] .

OK.

I am running HX-D1 & my buddy is running DRX-9255, can let you listen when we're done with our system (under construction). Come to think of it, I've not even starting piling yet ...

Hi Slonez,

[thumbsup]

Same here, i have not complete my system sine i just move into my new car. My current system is still not proper tuned yet and the sound proofing has just started...

Do you know where to find after-market D/A converters that can compliment the good HU? Looking for Burr-brown D/A converter which are used on the home set..?

As my car is shared with my wife, she used alot of MP3 and to date i can think of using 7998. Clarion hasn't have that which may thing abit of difficult to convince my wife [sweatdrop]

Definitely. How shall we meet ?? PM me.

I understand that the Mcintosh HU has the option to run external DAC, not too sure about the Clarion.

The Clarion already has 2 x 24 bit DAC, I doubt you get significant improvement by using external DAC.

If you want DAC for home audio, visit my web site: www.hifi.com.sg [;)]
