Ghostrider 3rd Gear April 17, 2005 Share April 17, 2005 Our press also cannot make it. Let alone business. Actually hor...I take my words back on the track.... MM Lee admitted that letting the F1 go was a mistake...it was not then...but it is now. And with his infulence...he did mentioned that he will tell the new generations (meaning the gov or the people ??) that this is what will make Singapore tick.... No wonder TP got WRX...next thing you know...bikes will be Hayabusa patroling the streets !!! ↡ Advertisement

David Clutched April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 As the saying goes better late than never. But I guess its not in everybody taste. If that's the case, then might as well welcome the next tsunami, wash up everything and start afresh. Tsunami? Maybe we can try World Cup BoardSurfing, right into your favourite hotel down Orchard Road.
Adrianli Hypersonic April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 I suggest SG take part in the newly formed A1 GP. Its country vs country racing. Those non F1 countries are taking part, why cant we take part n look for good SG drivers. Should take a small step 1st. Anyway F1 season already started. A1 GP will only begin in Sept after the F1 season.
Ghostrider 3rd Gear April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 Must have fast 4 wheels and 2 wheels mah.
Soya Supersonic April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 for SG to do well in A1, it has to secure pole position each time. then after that, do what SG drivers do best - road hog.
Adrianli Hypersonic April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 Ermmmm, in F1 drivers must road hog to protect their position!!! Tailgating is a must to ensure the other driver makes a mistake for u to overtake!!! SG drivers sure can be F1 drivers when u see ppl road hog n tailgating!!! Gearoil 1st Gear April 18, 2005 Share April 18, 2005 I would not say for sure that Singapore would not be able to grab the limelight if they decide to build an actual F1 track from now. Given the geographic position and social status the country has achieved it will not be difficult to put our country in the F1 spot light if we decide to go ahead and built an actual track. As a matter of fact, I think we would stand a better chance then Shanghai if the latter did not proceed to build a world class track first. Nevertheless,(no thanks to the lack of foresight of the old guards who were in charge then) if they decide to build a track now, the two most ideal locations would eithier be a full size racing only track in Changi ( good view and logistically sound location) or a street converted track in Marina( just like Monoco). The latter would be a better bet as it generates the greatest excitement and revenue both for the tourist shopping belt in nearby Orchard and hotels as well as the ability to highlight to the world the spectacular city and Bay area. They could maybe do a stretch of short tunnel crossing between the Marina area to a bit of downtown street racing but with most of the racing confided to the Marina Bay front.....this would be PERFECT!!!! And why didn't our ppl in charge think of this then?....or were they only thinking and not daring to do it?

F1 is a business, money talks. The benefit it brings to Tourism can never be underestimated But I like that WC Boardsurfing idea

All the blab is about that Indonesian Guy given Singapore Citizenship to play badminton and that Chinese Girl (who can still hardly speak English) to play ping pong We got our own local talent and they get pushed to the side, instead of being developed. Hitman Neutral Newbie April 18, 2005 Author Share April 18, 2005 (edited) Too many inconveniences and road closures. Remember, for a GP event .... that stretch have to be closed from Wed till the following Tues. Equipment and cars and promotions starts happening the Wed before Sunday Race Day and the roads can only be opened after Tues when they finish clearing and cleaning up the whole area Edited April 18, 2005 by Hitman
