Butt dyno is on of the most unreliable things to measure with. laugh.gif The difference can be at most 3-5%. I just floor it. You got to consider the stupid additives that might be detrimental to bearings.

Yo Genie,

I've just come across Methanol for sale in 5 ltr bottles. Can you advise if it is really as corrosive as some have warned. I'm just itching to try high octane fuel....... problem is I can't get any toluene instead.

Don't go for it. Methanol doesn't have more energy rating compared with petrol. It helps the engine cheat by giving it more O2 for combustion. The byproduct is corrosive if you read the link. Do it if you intend to scrap the car.

With the likes of you, I think I should start a new organization called PETAu. People for the Ethical Treatment of Automobiles. laugh.gif

Hi Bro & Sis

Have you noticed the slight difference when you change brand of RON95 petrol, especially the 1st full tank? For the 1st few 10s of kilometers, it feels as if I need to squeeze the pedal more. After a while, its back to normal behaviour.

I guess the engine needs to get use to the slight difference in additives added to the petrol.

Shell RON95 feels more powerful, but noisy engine.

Mobile RON95 (5000), less powerful than Shell but much quieter

SPC RON95, feels sightly quieter than Mobile and maybe less power... but the difference is marginal.

all very subjective one... could be due to my mood & my hallucinations...

How about Nitro Glycerine? I've just come across Toluene but mixed with Nitro. I can't find this mix in the homebrew writeup. Any idea as to whether Nitro would damage the engine, injectors, seals, gaskets, hoses etc....?

Thanks.

I dunno the mix ratio leh...... its supposed to be a racing additive to be mixed to petrol at a ratio of 25%.

Some guy selling it at Honda & scooby site. $35 for a 4 ltr bottle.

Also, methanol at $25 for a 5 ltr bottle.

That is some serious stuff. Please note that using methanol/nitro mixes can bring about engine wear up over the ceiling!

Aiyah........ its not for your everyday use mah....... just for those occasions that calls for it.

Besides, I don't think it is wise to do the 25% mix at the start. maybe just 10% first to see the effects. Then, maybe strenghten the concentration in steps to 15%, then 20%. Don't wanna blow anything.

More like a trial for my case to see if there's any effect. But main thing is to find out if its detrimental to the engine or other internal components.

Then if its good and safe........ I'll just stock it for that rare occasion for a run up North.

You want boh...... maybe can activate a group buy to get cheaper? Where's your good friend craze ah? dunno if he wants or not.

Not so worried about wear as the tuning of my ECU won't even allow the rpm to touch redline..... [:|]

Although I understand that it'll allow higher boost...... but I'm sticking to my existing setting. So for the current car configuration, there's only so much more compensation the ECU can make to advance the timing. (based on knock readings?)

Just need to find out if it's corrosive (Toluene + Nitro mix) or will clog up/damage injectors etc......

Thanks.

Eh....... you wanna share a bottle first? Let's see....2 ltrs each..... that'll treat 8 ltrs at 25%. Will treat 16 ltrs at 12.5%. Around 6% for ~ 30 ltrs? (Dunno if my calculation correct boh)

That's maybe good to add and observe at ~ half tank of petrol?
