Protege 1st Gear April 9, 2005 Share April 9, 2005 You are right. ST115 has good dry and wet grip due to its sticky compound. But the wear rate is and also teh noise level will increase over 10k. My cousin is experiencing it now! ↡ Advertisement
Pisces69 6th Gear April 9, 2005 Share April 9, 2005 n if ur current tyre exhibit problems such as balding to one side, do carry out high speed balancing to correct this problem as soon as u got ur new tyres. ===================== Uneven wear on either the outer or inner thread mostly means camber alignment problems, not so much balancing, which can only b detected with computerised alignment. Although mis-aligned toe in/out may also cause similar symptoms but with fethery effect on the worn area.
Achtung7 Neutral Newbie April 9, 2005 Share April 9, 2005 My left front tyre is balding on the outside... could it be caused by frequent tight right turns, e.g. going up a MSCP that is 11 levels high?? I'm thinking of doing an alignment, would I need to rotate the tyres after alignment?
Pisces69 6th Gear April 9, 2005 Share April 9, 2005 It is always good to do regular balancing , rotation & alignment for your car to lengthen the life of your tires & related suspension/steering components. The wear on the front left tire cud be due more to mis-alignment that your short trips in the MSCP. I normally off=wheel balance all 4 tires & rotate them at 10K km. I do a computerised 4 wheel alignment every 40K km or if i have any repairs done on the tires, steering or suspension components, as any of these cud throw your alignment out. Achtung7 Neutral Newbie April 11, 2005 Share April 11, 2005 I'm just done 25,000km on the car and rotation+balancing every 10,000. I couldn't find any reason for the misalignment other than the MSCP. Due to the tight turns, the front wheels always hit the ramp when pointing to the right. Could this be the reason ?
Pisces69 6th Gear April 11, 2005 Share April 11, 2005 Well, if u drive pretty fast in the MCSP, then it cud b the reason for the wear. As i believe u did mention u go up 11 stories ( I didn't know MCSP had 11 stories) every day. In this case I guess there wud b an effect on your wear. Try to do a rotation more often to even out the wear then. Or u cud find somewhere else to park of find a new place to stay.
Achtung7 Neutral Newbie April 12, 2005 Share April 12, 2005 Well... how not to drive fast when you're late and need to go up 11 storeys.... gonna do an alignment later.... thanks for the advice... parking my car somewhere else already...

Octopus 3rd Gear April 13, 2005 Share April 13, 2005 My left front tyre is balding on the outside... could it be caused by frequent tight right turns, e.g. going up a MSCP that is 11 levels high?? I'm thinking of doing an alignment, would I need to rotate the tyres after alignment? There was an write up in a car magazine on abnormal tyre wear caused by MSCP sometime ago. The writer recommended pumping higher tyre pressure, and claimed that this eliminated the abnormal wear that he's experienced due to MSCP. If you let go of your steering wheel on a straight road and the car go relatively straight, and when hard braking your car doesn't skid to either side, your alignment should be alright. Jamesgetz 4th Gear April 13, 2005 Share April 13, 2005 it helps if u go up and down the MSCP ramps slowly. not only helps to reduce alignment probs and tire wear, but also prolong the life of the car suspension
Crv2004 Clutched April 13, 2005 Share April 13, 2005 Why did you friend reget it . Is it because of the noise level or because of the performance of the MXV8? Thanks
Octopus 3rd Gear April 14, 2005 Share April 14, 2005 Yap. Slow is good cos just in case the cars in the parking lot suddenly dash out. ↡ Advertisement
