hmm, that is interesting....glad to know that, but seriously, i have never tot that particles are able to go through the air filter, which is to filter off dirts and particulates and just left with air feeding into the combustion chamber.....good on u to spot that one [thumbsup]

yoh bro maz... K&N filters are sponge ones yah... normal filters are paper type. sponge allows bigger particles to enter the air-intake, while the paper ones filters off most of it. if you look are our engine compartment, it does collect some sand particles over time... so i guess the same will go for the combustion chamber. i have nothing against K&N and have many bros using it. just some adv and disadv to share... Yup, K&N filters are not sponge. Can refer to the following page for more info. Not sure if we can believe 100% of what is in the page, but I'm pretty convinced that it will filter just as well, if not better than, the normal paper filter. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for such marketing tech talk. [;)]

Btw, can anyone enlighten me on the resonator removal? How do you actually do it? Do I need to replace it with another intake pipe, or just leave it open?

Same thing with the sparks, had the Iridium put in, but didn't notice much difference. Felt it was money wasted, since stock sparks are so cheap to replace, so don't really need a long-lasting plugs? [confused]

The resonator should be located just before the filter box. To be more specific,

Outside --> Resonator --> Filter box --> Air flow sensor --> Throttle body --> Engine

In order to remove the resonator, you need to expose it properly first. This may requite the partial removal of the front bumper.

After removing the resonator, you can actually leave the opening as is but it may be better to attach a flexible tube and direct it to a strategic place where it can suck in cool air without sucking in water. The shorter the tube, the louder the induction noise will be. Of course it will be loudest if the opening of the filter box is left alone.

The actual bhp per $ that a "superb" spark plug can produce is really not worth it. If you're mechanically inclined, changing standard copper plugs every 15k or 20k is fine. Fresh plugs gives me better assurance compared to leaving plugs in the engine for long periods.... [sweatdrop]
