Genie47 1st Gear October 8, 2005 Share October 8, 2005 Just use the Prestone 5/150 lah!
Dennisk Clutched October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 ok..bought that...thanks!
Genie47 1st Gear October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 Make sure the mechanic gets rid of every single bit of previous coolant. Dexcool is not compatible with the regular green stuff or the Japanese silicate free types.
Cyberet Neutral Newbie October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 whats the lowest % of coolant should I use? 20% Coolant, 80% water? i know using lesser amount of coolant will reduce boiling point, but a normal functional radiator won't boil easily right?
Genie47 1st Gear October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 No you are more concern about this phenomenon called overboiling. It is those small boling bubbles that form int he small gaps in the cooling system. Summer or winter, the best is 50%. Maybe if you want to lower the EG/PG level, 40% is as far as you can go but not 30 or 20%.
Cyberet Neutral Newbie October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 oic, i'm using ww with 30% caltex extended life coolant, 70% water, should i drain and replace with 50/50?
Dennisk Clutched October 9, 2005 Share October 9, 2005 i see them flushing with distilled water alot of times....till it runs clear....then they use the new coolant plus water... the coolant level in the reservior decreases abit...is it normal?
Genie47 1st Gear October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 (edited) Normal. If you want to increase the level, make sure you add the 50/50 mix instead of water. Edited October 10, 2005 by Genie47
Genie47 1st Gear October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 Keep it there first until your next coolant change. Coolant not cheap especially the good Prestone 5/150. Well actually cheap lah if you intend to keep the car as long as 5yrs from the date you change the coolant. Eh? Caltex got extended life coolant? What color? Cyberet Neutral Newbie October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 got, green color http://www.caltex.com.sg/products/lubricants.asp#greases
Dennisk Clutched October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 coolant already finish using whole bottle already...the level has not decrease already...think should be ok already...thanks for your advise in this....
Cyberet Neutral Newbie October 13, 2005 Share October 13, 2005 https://www.cbest.chevron.com/generated/MSDS/PDS7705276.PDF Similar to Prestone 5/150?
Genie47 1st Gear October 13, 2005 Share October 13, 2005 Yep this is the same as Prestone 5/150. The key word is organic acid carboxylate technology. I think they didn't pay royalties to use the Dexcool trademark name from GM. Should be cheaper if you can get your hands on it.
Seanboi 1st Gear April 9, 2007 Share April 9, 2007 You got to ask Apollo. Some antifreezes don't like WW. Got some reports here and there. I think this is the OAT, HOAT or Toyota/Honda phosphate type. People have reported WW forming some sludge with it. I don't recommend mixing because car too expensive. Bro where to find the brands/types of anit-freeze that doesnt like WW? Just add WW into my coolant... 35% anti-freeze.
Redfoxx Neutral Newbie April 9, 2007 Share April 9, 2007 Bro, i sometimes hear some bubbling sound coming from the water pump after driving on a hot day. Is that normal? I have not changed my coolant since i got my ride 3 months ago.
Genie47 1st Gear April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 Usually the branded ones don't like WW. Toyota, Nissan and all that.
Genie47 1st Gear April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 It is normal. It is purging the system of air. ↡ Advertisement
