No problem bro. How long have your collected your car ? Personnally I think a regular maintainence with proper tools will help to keep your car shinny, whether with hand or machine. If you need help getting the right tools just let us know, I believe the guys here will be more than willing to help.

For beginner I think Autoglym SRP and EGP are a little bit 'tricky' to use, sometimes it can be a bit difficult to remove the polish and sealant. So normally I would suggest Meguair's Deep Crystal 3 steps system or Mother's 3 steps system plus a good car shampoo like the Meguair's Gold Class. Not to forget to pick up some good quality applicator and MF cloth.

Sometimes I do have detailing session with some of my kaki and if you want to come and take a look can send me a PM and see how we can arrange. [;)]

I don really know what you mean by the entire GC series, if you include the tyre dressing, the pads, the leather cleaner, conditioner and ......etc, than there is ALOT of products. If you prefer to use a one step product you can try out the GC wax or mother's cleaner wax, these two wax has got pretty good reviews too.

I would advice you to get more MF cloth, I'm using the Turtle Wax MF cloth aroung $15/- for 3, not the best but good enough for me. Meguair's applicator pad is one of the more common and reliable one around.

Not necessary to go for the entire GC series. If you want to start with Meguiar's, you can't actually do much wrong with your choice. While they are not all entirely the very best in market, they are both affordable and widely available. (Zaino are better and more durable but you will have to spend 2~3x the price for their system). Without wanting to sound like a Meguiar's salesman, this is my 2

You must be joking, you the super crazy perfectionist want to 'learn' from me? I think its the other way round, I should learn from you. Anyway might be doing some polishing and waxing tomorrow if I can get hold of the cutting pad and just to remind you where is my ultimate bonnet ?

I used to use Hand brand and it works well if I'm only going to wash and and do a one step wax application to the car. But after reading many topics (especially from Autopia)on detailing car, b**kside itchy starts to do claying, polishing, swirl removing, glazing, waxing and all the funny combinations with different products, the Hand brand starts to break down easily and the result not that good either. Than decided to switch to Machine brand, the result is wonderful. Not only the car looks better as compare to Hand brand and it took only 1/3 the time and effort as compare to Hand brand.

So I believe if someone who only wants to do simple washing and waxing, the Hand brand is good enough but for the more 'crazy' (or should I say more serious) detailing hobbyist, Machine brand is a good investment. But I'm not saying people without Machine brand are not serious hobbyist its just that they prefer the Hand brand better.

i meant why not get GC shampoo n wax instead of using GC shampoo and then the Deep Crystal and Mother's 3 steps.

is the GC car shampoo significantly better than other Maguair shampoos? the salesman at Home-fix recommended me the blue coloured one which twice the size of GC shampoo but about same price.. n i noticed there's another type which is even cheaper.. a 1.89litre shampoo. woww its really confusing.. feel like just buying the best of all the car grooming stuff but too ex haha..

yup i have an MF cloth from 3M.. bought for $7+

for buffing off the polish can use the bandage-like kinda cloth right?
