Keldar Neutral Newbie March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Hello All, Need advise on these 2 SUVs. I am thinking of getting a SUV but I cannot make up my mind about the 2. I have check both prices Harrier is $128800 & Murano $126000. The headache is that I kinda of like the feature and interior of the Murano but I have heard quite a few things about Nissan on low re-sale value, low OMV etc. And that Harrier being around for a while so the parts are easier to get and cheaper. The seller of the Harrier has a more established workshop as compared to the Murano. I am aware that Tan Chong will be bringing in this model but in Aug. I can;t wait as my car is giving way; a few more months will 10 years. Scrapping so not wanting to spend money on it. I hope some kind soul here can give me some advise on my problem above. Thank you in advance. Keldar ↡ Advertisement
Nemesis Neutral Newbie March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 I will go for Murano as it's more rare and it's a new car in the market For Harrier it's been out for quite a while, guess maybe new car will be out Juz my $0.02 Cheers
Vooth 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 (edited) All I know after seeing the Murano is that it is way better than the harrier/rx300 in terms of design and interior space. The PI version even comes with side camera, how cool can it get? It is also a hot seller in the states and trust me, pictures alone do not do justice to this suv. Tploh Clutched March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Since you are buying something at 120K range, I guess 10K loss in re-sale value won't hurt much. Go for the more "head turning" Murano.
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 Murano - way cooler than the Harrier.

Route88 2nd Gear March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 I think...the Murano design is nice, but still prefer Harrier for resell value.Do check with TC ,i think its beyond 3 litre which a bit siong on road tax.
Chimp Clutched March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 I am also considering a SUV and have looked at Murano and Harrier. You need to be aware that the PI version is the 2004 model and I believe TC is bringing in the 2005 model. The PI 2.5L Murano is not a CVT and do not have the keyless feature. The Murano PI model has an OMV of $43,000 which is about the same as Harrier 240GL. Hycarz has a comparison chart between Murano and Harrier. Here are some of the highlights: Description-------Murano 2.5L----------------Harrier 240GL--------------Comments Max. Output------120KW(163PS)/5200rpm----118KW(160PS)/5600rpm----about the same Max. Torque------245Nm/3200rpm------------215Nm/4000rpm------------Murano - more torque at lower rpm Fuel Consum------10.6M/L-------------------11KM/L---------------------about the same Front Brake-------Ventilated Disc-------------Ventilated Disc-------------the same Rear Brake--------Ventilated Disc-------------Disc-----------------------Murano better Overall Length-----4770mm-------------------4730mm-------------------Murano longer Overall Width------1880mm-------------------1845mm-------------------Murano wider Overall Height------1685mm------------------1680mm-------------------about the same Interior Length-----2080mm------------------1990mm-------------------Murano longer Interior Width------1560mm------------------1500mm-------------------Murano wider Interior Height------1265mm-----------------1210mm--------------------Murano more height Ground Clearance---180mm------------------185mm---------------------Murano lower Min. Turning Radius--5.7m--------------------5.7m----------------------same Wheel Base---------2825mm-----------------2715mm--------------------Murano longer Track Front/Rear----1620/1620mm-----------1575/1560mm---------------Murano wider From the look of the car and the spec, I am leaning towards the Murano. I have a 4.5-year old car so I have enough time to wait for TC to bring the car in later this year. Personally not very comfortable with the PI warranty. Chimp Clutched March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 (edited) The SE from TC told me they are bringing in both the 2.5L and 3.5L Murano. Looks to me Singapore road does not need the added horsepower but am waiting to test drive both when they arrive. Aspri Clutched March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 I agree with some of the posters that Harrier looks more dated than Murano. Besides, if you get the Murano, you don't have to endure the taunts from BM - "There's no such thing as a 2.4l RX300".
Aspri Clutched March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 Er. I have to disagree on the resale value. Since the Murano is not launched in Singapore, how do we know what the resale value would be? I have to agree with the 3+ litre road tax though. A year's road tax for 350Z is 4046 bucks!
Keldar Neutral Newbie March 25, 2005 Author Share March 25, 2005 Hello All, Wow So many replies.... Firstly Thank you all. From the voices from all here, I think Murano is it, but like all replies here is that we are not comfortable with the PI. That was how I felt when I was at HyCarz. Harrier is a good car but too many on the road. On the 2005 model, anybody can confirm that Tan Chong bringing 2005 model and not 2004 ones ? The one I saw at HyCarz already had a lot of extras thrown in like 7" LCD, camera at the back etc so how's the 2005 model compare against that. I called TC but the SE said "dont know". The other thing is that the Murano is 2.5cc not 3. Although I think the road tax is still quite ex even at 2.5 Again thank you for all the info, if I find out more, I will also share here. Very tempted to get the PI model !! rgds
Chimp Clutched March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 (edited) If you are interested to learn more, you should visit http://www.nissanmurano.org/ There is quite an active forum there with lots of helpfull Murano owners. Over there, they call their car MO. The list below is from the USA Muranos so there might be some difference between the PI model (they called it the Japan Export model) and the one TC is getting: 1. Intelligent Key. 2. Rear view Camera. 3. Roll Sensor for Side Air Cushion Activation. 4. Changed Cup Holder in Front. 5. Black Leather Interior 6. Pre wired for entertainment System. 7. Rear Hatch opens with a push panel. 8. Intelligent lock buttons on front door handles and rear hatch. 9. New power steering mechanism. 10. The seat track is longer and different as least on drivers side. 11. Assist Handle over drivers door. 12. Battery is bigger. 13. Light dimming of indicators next to shifter is improved 14. Rear Cup holder opens with a button. 15. Alternator output curve different from 03 16. AWD lock now goes off at 6mph instead of 19. 17. NAV display unit wired differently 18. Enlarged Sunroof. 19. SRS timing changed. 20. Rear Hatch hinge covers. 21. Consumer Reports Recommendation. Edited March 25, 2005 by Chimp
