Genie47 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 The item is called MoTDC. If you want one that is available now, go to Autobaccs to get Valvoline Synpower Engine Oil treatment. You need about 4oz per qt of oil.
Nine_eleven 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Author Share March 24, 2005 the liquimoly one is MoS2... issit the same as MoTDC? so valvoline's product has moly in it?
Genie47 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 MoTDC is better. Valvoline product has tons of the stuff but don't follow the instructions in the bottle and dump the whole thing in. The whole idea is to supplement like using vitamins.
Nine_eleven 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Author Share March 24, 2005 (edited) well... hope these moly stuff ain't in the snake oil category! thanks for your help! Edited March 24, 2005 by Nine_eleven
Genie47 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 MoTDC is frequently used in engine oil formulation. Some engine oil don't have this stuff in its formulation. Some people feel more comfortable having it in the oil.
Alant 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Hi Genie47...regarding on this Liquimoly Moly additive, won't it be better to use the LiquiMoly engine oil instead of adding this additive to other brand of engine oil? Thanks.
Genie47 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Yes, it is better if you use an oil with moly in its formulation. Not many people know which oil have moly in it. Lubromoly is not the only oil that has moly in it. Even RP has moly in it. Mobil 1 confirm does not have moly. Redline has loads of moly.
Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 u referring the M1 5W30 supersyn which does not have moly? is it essential for an engine oil to have moly or is it already substituted by something else in a M1's formulation?
Genie47 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 I do not know if they have substituted it with something else.
Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 so is moly really that beneficial and warrants us to put in oil additives to eng oil with no moly?
Genie47 1st Gear March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 Some formulations need it, some formulations don't. It is up to you to tinker with if you have money to do so.
