'Smudging' from Waxing

my friend passed me a can of eagleone wet look wax. acc to the instructions, i'm supposed to use the foam applicator, moisten it and then spread a thin layer of wax onto the paintwork. waited for it to haze (a few mins' wait) and then buff off.

i did that but ended up with smudges on the paintwork. some parts of the paintworks seem to have different shades and shine but the surface is kilat smooth...

is it bcos i buff it off too quickly or is it i waited for too long?

that normally happens when the wax dries off too fast. make sure the surface is cool and that you work under shade.

but dont worry about it, you can wet the area with plain water and after awhile, buff the area again. alternatively, simply wipe the affected area with a wet cloth. that should normally solve your problem.

in the worst case, just ignore it. after a few car washes, everything will be back to normal wink.gif

other than the above stuffs some bros had highlighted, u might also hv

applied too much of the product at one time.

Also, if the pad or cloth is clog wif too much of the product, it will

also cause streaking.

bcos i was comparing my Glared car to my friend who DIY polish and wax his own car... his car puts my car to shame... [bigcry]

the depth and clarity from the wax is really solid and is even better than my ride when it was first Glared. Hence i wanted to wax my Glared car... [sweatdrop]

thanks for the advice everyone!

i thought i remember reading somewhere that leaving the wax longer to dry will help to reduce smearing/streaking

u r right. the streak/smears disappears after a few washes... [thumbsup]

i got a shock initially when i saw the smears/streaks and couldn't get rid of them initially [bigcry]

yupz, same colour. bearing in mind, he takes almost 4 hrs to wash, claybar, polish and then wax his car. his waxing skills are prob quite good as well. has a very wet, showroom shine look... very kilat [sweatdrop]

anyway, checked with him rgding the smudging/streaking. he also advised to apply only a very thin layer and once it hazes, buff off quickly. suppose i was too impatient and greedy last ime...
