Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 22, 2005 Share March 22, 2005 Notice that the water level in the reserved water tank keeps decreasing, but quite slowly. I suspect there might be some leakage. This happens after I got my aircon serviced. Could that have cause the leakage due to improper servicing? Appreciate any advice here. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Beanoyip Turbocharged March 22, 2005 Share March 22, 2005 Which water level at which tank are you talking about? So far the only water in the bonnet i know of is the Wiper washer.

Gadgeter 2nd Gear March 23, 2005 Share March 23, 2005 Are you using only water for the coolant system?

Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 23, 2005 Author Share March 23, 2005 That's right! Anyway, just went to have my aircon checked again. This time they realised that the compressor is faulty and needs to be change. Was told that the magnet in the compressor is losing contact, that's why my aircon not cold under traffic jam driving condition. Sian man - pocket burn big hole! Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 23, 2005 Author Share March 23, 2005 Guess I misleaded many by using water ... should use coolant instead No, I have green coolant in my water coolant reservoir and filled over the "FULL" level. Will monitor the water level again. Heard from mechanic that if overfilled pass the FULL level, the excess will be slowly dripped away causing the level drop. Don't know how true it is. Don't know how true it is. ======================== Your mech is right. Only top up the reservoir to the "max" line, not higher & only do this when the engine is hot & driven for some time. After a few weeks, if the water level is still dropping, get it checked.

Huggable Clutched March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Don't think it is a big concern, since you mentioned that the water is decreasing slowly. Watch the temp gauge of your car, does it rise to a level that is higher than normal, especially after the aircon servicing? Not advisable to top up the radiator water without adding coolant, as the coolant/water ratio would be affected
Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Author Share March 24, 2005 Will do. Thanks bro.
Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Author Share March 24, 2005 The temp gauge is as per normal, but I am just concern over the coolant level since I have not had this problem before I got my aircon serviced. Anyway, I also realised that the mech somehow forgot to fill up the coolant level after replacing the coolant valve and the aircon servicing. Not sure if that causes the coolant level to drop drastically.

I don't see why he has to touch the reservoir or radiator at all??? Aircon system is seperate from cooling system for engine.
