Starlet Neutral Newbie March 21, 2005 Share March 21, 2005 Hi Guys My aircon sometime got this fast and continous click click sound. Suspect aircon termonstat . I found a small box next to the blower with a switch " label RPM H - L " This is the termonstat? thinking of turning it to all the way to H , may be this will set the RPM to "HIGH" and stop the clicking. Cheers ↡ Advertisement

Yeobh 4th Gear March 21, 2005 Share March 21, 2005 That small box is a RPM cut-in device. Set at the middle range between H -L should be ok. Set at very low rpm, the compressor will cut-in and may kill the engine.

Starlet Neutral Newbie March 23, 2005 Author Share March 23, 2005 Hi Changed the blower "solenoid" before, due to wear and scratching sound. My is 91 starlet. After I turn the RMP to more H , the clicking sound seem gone. May be due to bad contact of the in the box. Rdgs

Apollo 1st Gear March 26, 2005 Share March 26, 2005 2 different things here. 1st, the blower for the aircon, is attached n very much concealed fr sight. U can't see it. The blower that u refer to is probably the fan for the "aircon radiator"/ "engine radiator", this operates on a thermostat between 74degC and/ 90degC. It will not operate if the temp is lower than this. In short, if it does not run, it may not b an issue. next issue. when u hv no cool air coming out fr ur "aircon system", it may refer to a nos of things, possibly, gas leak, lack of maintenance leading to dirty aircon filter, clogged condenser, dying aircon compressor, faulty relay, etc. if ur car is reasonably old n the aircon neber been serviced b4, take it as an opportunity to do this. make sure the mechanic check for leaks, this usually comes in form of oil stain at pipe coupling, aircon radiator, etc.
FGY7022 Neutral Newbie March 27, 2005 Share March 27, 2005 thanks bro, just wanna check.... how much is a reasonable price for servicing the air-con system? my car is a COE car. old fellow. Haizzz... looks like i do need to service it also, yesterday, there is the click click sound, i think it the thermostat turning on anf off, it jus keep clicking and clicking, stop after 3-5 clicks, after a while start again, also when i go over uneven road or humps... dun know why, but it "activates" the clicking.... Haizzz.....
Apollo 1st Gear March 27, 2005 Share March 27, 2005 since they suggested markcool, i suggest u go there to check. the danger of this aircon stuff is in the con. plenty of con there. many will just do what u suggested den something happen, they tell u change unneccessary parts to make more $$. goto a reliable biz where they do a proper job. ↡ Advertisement
