Zrun Neutral Newbie March 19, 2005 Share March 19, 2005 (edited) Can someone recommend any wide band O2 controllers w/ Bosch sensor + logging? It is for DIY ECU tuning with E-Manage. I'm about to buy one from zeitronix.com for 280USD, but I want to check if there are alternatives in Singapore, as my family is visiting me soon. If you know any Singapore tuning forums such as Evo or WRX groups, please inform me. thanks. Edited March 19, 2005 by Zrun ↡ Advertisement
Zrun Neutral Newbie March 19, 2005 Author Share March 19, 2005 For anyone interested this how I plan to do tuning for NA vehicle (but I'm getting ready to move into FI soon) Tuning tool: E-Manage with ignition harness How it works? E-Manage reads your Mass Air Flow(MAF) (MAP for older hondas), RPM, throttle position signal, and use a customizable function of these inputs to add or subtract to your air flow signal which will trick the ECU into increasing or decreasing fuel injectors duty cycle. So, you are able to modify this function, such as decreasing fuel slightly at high RPMs to lean out for better power. With ignition harness, you can control how to advance ignition timing. Which improves efficiency and output at the same time, but at a higher risk of detonation. How will it benefit you? If you hold down your accelerator pad to the ground, you will get up to speed faster. Other than that, you should NOT expect any changes. Generally, e-manage will improve your car's performance during the 5% of the time when you feel like pushing your car to the limit. If someone claims "my car seems to get up to speed faster after installing E-Manage", he is probably imagining things. Because E-manage only get to work when your pedal is on the metal not when you are trying to go from 0-45km/h. At full throttle, you should be able to improve torque throughout all RPM range, because stock car's WOT map is extremely rich and not too efficient. This can lead to respectable improvement in 0-100km time. The myth of ECU undoing any E-Manage changes This is true if you are trying to tune closed loop performance, which is not recommended to be done with ANY non-standalone systems, including UNICHIP, e-manage, SAFC etc, even though these devices allow you to tune close loop operation. Stock ECUs does a good job of maintaining peak FC given the hardwares, and adapts to them very well. If you want improve output at closed loop, at the expense of FC, it is possible to be done with piggy back systems, but with some kind of O2 sensor hacks, which I'm trying to make one for turbo application. So, when you depress the accelerator fully, the ECU goes into open loop. During open loop, the ECU stops adapting, and E-manage is able to take over. There's a notion of Long Term Fuel Trim that will affect open loop. However, this will not affect E-Manage's tuning adversely because LTFT is determined during close loop operation, when e-manage is not interfering. What is needed to DIY? Wide band O2 sensor, controller and logging feature (e-manage supports that). ↡ Advertisement
