Today, while driving to Jurong on the PIE, my car suddenly drop gear and my engine check light came on sweatdrop.gif

I continued driving as I had an appointment ... maybe it's a bad choice ... nothing now maybe later got more problems. Anyway, finished my appointment, tried to start the car ... the check light still on frown.gif

It was already 5.30pm, drove straight to C&C Pandan Gardens .... hoping for the best.

This F%#$^* service guy whom I approach for assistance came to my car, started it, play around with my air cond (on and off and on and off) ... then started talking to a friend, went away for about 5 mins ... came back and told me I had to leave my car for further check.

Thought they are suppose to have this very expensive toy they call scanner that you plug into the car's ECU socket and it should tell you immediately what's wrong .... but that AS%$^%* say it's some electronic problem and they need at least 1/2 a day to troubleshoot furious.gif

I was very pissed off as he did not attempt to try and at least check before saying that he need to do a full test ... think he wanted to make my money more that solve my problem. bigcry.gif

I drove to the car park further down from the centre .... stop my car, took out all the fuses and relay related to the ECU and turn the start switch on ... hoping it will somehow reset the ECU ...... guess what, it worked bounce2.gif

Imagine, if I stupid stupid listen to that guy, will end up not having a car for the weekend .... still keeping my fingers crossed that the light will not come on tomorrow.

I am still wondering what could be the problem ... maybe ECU going to die liao confused.gif ... maybe should sell my car now sly.gif

So, for those who still trust C&C .... better watch your tail or have a bigger wallet. knife.gif

And does anyone have such an experience before ?

Taking out the ECU fuse to clear the 'Check Engine' light doesn't solve the problem.

If the fault is not corrected, the 'Check Engine' light may come on again. You need to retrieve the fault code from the ECU through an OBD2 diagnostic tool. From the fault code, you'll be able to tell the root of the problem. If you need help to retrieve the fault code, PM me.

Done that already .. thanks.

The fault is with the auto transmission output sensors ... got it replaced and now all is well.

Guess you did the right thing. Most ECU will latch on an occurrence of anomaly, even if it's one-off. Disconnecting battery for a short 5 minutes reset the ECU and one-off warning light usually goes off.

But if the warning light returns, got to remove any suspicious add-ons or see doctor liao.

Same thing happened to my Accent. I used to have this problem in the past but not now. Although, I did not do anything about it, the Check light did not come on for quite sometime already. When it happened, what I did was to park the car for about an hour and the problem just dissappeared.

I know this is a bit technical question, furthermore to post that is over 5 years old - but I cannot start new thread. I was wondering if there is any good software for diagnosing Kia vehicles. I have cheap OBD2 code reader, but last time I had problems with my Ceed it did not show anything (no faults, but MIL was on). I found http://www.obdtester.com/hicom, which seems to be more up-date than Carman (HiSCAN PRO - http://www.nex-tek.com/english/). Any other options for purchase or hints?
