Othello Supersonic March 18, 2005 Share March 18, 2005 When does the smell comes on ? Is it perpetual ? Ok, try this method : When you are about to reach home, turn of A/C , switch air-selector mode to "Etxernal", adjust temp to midway between red & blue, turn up fan to 2 ....... try this for a few days to see whether have improvement or not ....... Chevycavy 1st Gear March 18, 2005 Share March 18, 2005 Do you have heater for your car? Heard from someone that you can try turning up the heat all the way, close the door, full blast and wait for 5min outside the car. Seems to solve the problem. Why don't you give it a try before spending that $80.

Josephtan1234 Neutral Newbie March 18, 2005 Share March 18, 2005 Hi all, anyone knows how to remove smelly air con smell? You probably have mold in your fan coil. either that, or you had let in enternal air to ventilate your car before and some of the leaves that dropped in into the air inlet start to decompose and got stuck at your air inlet. thats why some mechanics will advise you to disable the external air inlet control. In singapore, no point having this control anyway. But looks like your aircon needs a good cleanup.
Wbucket Clutched March 18, 2005 Share March 18, 2005 I heard it is cause by the water droplet that is gathered in the pipes when you stop your engine. These remaining water will cause mold or something to grow. Some commented it smell like dead rat. An advice I got is to off the aircon abbout 5 minute before reaching your destination. But keep the blower on to clear the vapour. The heat from the engine will help to dry the pipe as well.

Will_I_Am 2nd Gear March 18, 2005 Share March 18, 2005 Anyone knows what could be the problem if the aircon blows only air when the car is stationary for some time? The cool air comes on only after the car moves on for some distant. This problem occurs after I had my aircon servicing and my aircon filter and valve replaced. Ghostrider 3rd Gear March 19, 2005 Share March 19, 2005 2 ways you can try. 1) Mcwell selling a aircon cleaner from OWS. This is great stuff. I used it before. A bit costly at $50 a bottle but can use for a few time. Its basically what CAS is using too. Its a foam cleaner. What you do is direct the supplied nozzle into your aircon vents and blast the foam into the vent. Let it sit for a while like 15mins or so...then switch on your aircon to work for 30mins. Another similar product is from DIAX, can be found in most petrol station. Its a aircon cleaner...I think cost 10 odd...can't remember the price. You blast the spray into your aircon vent...then you start the aircon...then switch the vent to recirculate and turn the nozzle of the can to auto spray then leave it in your car for 30mins. 2) use the heater in your car to kill the germs and mould that is causing the smell. In the nite when you are driving...wind down your window and leave your vent to FRESH and turn the temp up (red zone or higher temp) and highest fan setting. Drive for a around 20mins. If smell still there, repeat the process again. If still cannot consider option
