Last time I don't have tachometer, I will ka ka step accelerator. Now got tachometer liao, I become more gentle with the accelerator. Every time the needle move up means more petrol burnt means more money spent. laugh.gif

Just like everyone has said, rear space is cramped loh. Can seat 3 definitely but will not be comfortable for long rides. Boot space is good so nothing to complain.

I used to travel to Tuas and back to town everyday and find that the VIP is adequate for expressway travel. No problems hitting 120km/h. As I mentioned before, it's most lethargic at mid range so between 60km/h - 80km/h is the slowest acceleration.

Are u still driving the VIP and have successfully installed an aftermarket tachometer? If so, please tell me where to install, which brand of tachometer and how much. Had been asking around but the answer I got is either impossible, not worth it, too risky etc. Even big shops like Autobac had decline doing it for me. Thanks.

I have already scrapped it last year. I lived without it. As everyone has already advised you, it's not worth it and it's not accurate when installed as many people tapped the sensor to the wrong place. It's also quite a major effort if you do want to tap it to the right place as well. In a nutshell, my suggestion would also be to give it up.

Thanks. Basically I have given up already, Just that I was surprised that u managed to get it done, so just asking for some information. from your feedback, can really not bother about it anymore. When bought the car, like the other factors of the car (like stability, looks, 2 airbags etc where not available in normal EX sunny) so much that was thinking since can fix aftermarket one, can overlook the lack of OEM one. Will not buy next car without it. [scholar] Still I love the VIP very much.

Strangely I felt exactly like you. I told myself the next car I buy must have a tachometer.

Anyway I did enjoy driving the car as that was before the days when TP was anal about the speed limits. I have my complaints about it (lousy mid-range, can't go above 120 without serious prodding, cramped rear seats, etc.) but I still enjoyed it for the same good factors you have pointed out.

Well you win some you lose some.

Bro, didn't expect anyone to reply to my post 1+ year later! :D

Anyway, you are right but I have also been advised that it may or may not be accurate. It needs to be tapped from the right places to give you an accurate reading. Also, having a built-in tachy is still more elegant lah. wink.gif

I'm referring to mid range speed between 60-90. Gear 3 seems to be the one that's engaged at that point of time. High range is just CMI. Just in case you feel that I'm making this up, I know because I owned the car before.
