Anyone tried the latest 0W30 oil from SPC? it's supposed to the latest version of their OW30 Synace syn oil with SM rating ( i thought SL was the latest rating?!! [dizzy] ). there's an article on it in the latest WheelsAsia magazine.

SM is the latest rating. But may I ask, does it carry ILSAC GF4 as well? If it does, I think SPC is playing the Petronas card. Petronas Syntium 5000 is the first oil in Malaysia and the world to carry the SM and GF4 rating long before it was officially announced. Marketing department damn creative I must say.

I've just bought a bottle of the synace 0w30. Have yet to go for my servicing. Will provide feedback once its in my car. You are right about SM rating. Its a first in Singapore. Not sure wheather its a marketing gimmick or not And yes it complies with gf-4 specs (not even sure what this is about...)

1. I'm also interested. Anyway, i doubt it is cheaper that Royal Purple.

2. I find it strange that SPC engine oil is cheaper in Indonesia compare with the price in Singapore. Perhaps I should buy them in Indonesia and sell it back to Singaporean..kidding.

GF4 is fuel economy. Lets see.....SM, GF4 ........eek gad! MB229.1! This oil has almost the same ratings as Petronas Syntium 5000 SM. The difference is that Syntium 5k SM is selling for MYR198! shocked.gif And Synace is selling for SGD68.

1. Currently on Delphi 5W40, does it make sense to go for SPC 0W30, RP 5W30 or Carrefour's Mobile One offer for the next oil change?

2. Was told that thinner oil tend to produce more engine noise, is there any true in it?

In a new car, it might be less noise. Ask Zakuii and Tien. They both got 5W20 in their engines and they sound very quiet. I used 5W20 and my wife noticed the same thing.

Forget Synace. Get the Carrefour M1 5W30. 15k km interval. Tanchiak ah! RP is best until 12k km max judging from th used oil analysis I've been reading, so 10k km might be the best interval to remember.

Have you hit 30k km total mileage on your car yet? If not, stick to cxxxxxe until 30k km.
