Benson Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Hi All: After 1 month of intensive research (involving frens/ relatives and of coz bros of this forum) finally went to Ubi to book my AVEO 4D Sedan (A). Anyway any bros in Ubi do take note of one SE, damn clueless in his technical knowledge, told me Auto got CVT, search the whole brochure never see that mentioned. when i questioned him, he said it is not called CVT, but work similiar (of coz not as good). then he told me got Immobilizer, when i asked further, then he said it is the car alarm, which led to my question, "how does a car alarm act as an immobilizer? so when the alarm rings, the car thief will immobilize?" yeap u guess it, didnt buy from him. got a pretty good SE, Claudia, at least she is more professional and more direct. Gotten the booking and expecting to come this month end. Also she gave me upfront $500 discount plus reverse sensor, so not that bad a deal (couldnt manage to ask her absorb the 1st year insurance) Here's my details: Aveo 4D Auto standard $51988 plus Leather seat $ 900 plus Sports Rim $ 700 plus reverse sensor $ 0 Less discount -$ 500 Total $53088 The reason why i posted this up was that i am quite impressed by her direct and professional approach, so i offered to advertise this package for her. She agreed. So bro, if intented to get AVEO, quote "Benson Package" if you gotten something extra from her, let me know so i can go get from her as well 2 questions: 1. Is it worth to get sports rim? I was told the alloy wheel lighten the car a little and thus help in terms of FC 2. I didnt go for the premium package as i dont see the need to pay $400 for a 5 disc changer, i am intending to get a MP3 CD player, any lobang? The SE offer $350 to add the mp3 CD player but i will still get the standard 1 disc CD player back (no trade-in) any good deals outside that i can trade in my 1 disc player? ↡ Advertisement

Xavier Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Sport rim is worth to get but ideally is to get better and nicer looking one outside rather than the chevrolet so-called "sports rim". I'm changing my HU to pioneer 5750 mp3 cd player. About $250 w/o installation. better deal than whats SA is offering. Keep your original HU as it not worth much when trade in. You will need it when you scrape or sell your car.
Benson Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Author Share March 14, 2005 Hi Xaiver: Where can i get nicer sports rim? how much will it cost? if lesser than $700, i dont mind. As for the Mp3 CD player, where u buy?, is it easy to install?

Godfinger Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Hi There You have got a Aveo at a much lower price than me. I got mine at $56888 one yr ago. Good choice for Auto transmission. The 4AT is made by Aisin which is a typical light weight conventional 4-sp Auto but not CVT. So do not get smoked by anyone who claims that.. Also the Terminology for Immobiliser, Keyless Entry, Alram system has already been posted by me before so neverless here it goes again : Immobiliser : - Built-in chip in key - prevent engine start from foreign key. - Not related with Central-lock alarm system at all. Keyless-entry : - Entry to vehicle w/o using key to open the door locks. - can be built into key or as a separate remote controller - Not related to alarm system - Only lock and unlock function. Alarm system : - Arms the car with locking the doors. - Most likely is aftermarket product Cheers
Xavier Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Whether u want the price to be less than $700 depends on which tyre you choose. For example, I change to a 15" RM sport rims with Falken ST115 tyre, its cost $690 after trading in my stock tyre. If change to BF Goodrich tyre with the same rim, it cost $600 without trade in. So its pretty subjective on whats the pricing. The pricing I get is from pxx xxxg, haven neg on the price yet. MP3 cd player can just ask around in SLT, just make sure that they will give local warranty as some shops might sell very cheap but its a export set. I'm getting someone to install at $25. Chevycat Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 I bought my Optra from her too! A good SE, quite willing to discuss freebies. Should contact her direct if any friends want to get a Chevy from Ubi outlet. BTW, there is a simple device in the IT market, that can connect to any MP3 player, CD player, portable DVD player etc, through the audio out jack and transmit the sound as FM signal, which can be pick up by any car radio, using any free FM freq. That way, the music from a portable MP3 player can be played on the car sound system. This way, no need to install expensive unit, as you can have CD quality music and a normal 256 MB MP3 player can contain more songs that any 12-dise CD changer. The device only cost $59, at the IT show last weekend.
Xavier Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Its call Belkin FM Transmitter. Its not CD quality. More like radio quality without the distortion noise.
Benson Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Author Share March 14, 2005 (edited) Hi Godfinger: I have a vague idea of Immobolizer and thus knew that SE is BS. As for the CVT, i read the brochure and double confirm with another SE, another BS from him. I told him that CVT is such a strong selling point esp in cheaper range like AVEO, so didnt make sense dont advertised it. Then he changed his statement to "something like CVT" after so much BS, decided to drop him and approach Claudia, at least she told me directly that it is NOT CVT, it is VGIS transmission. As for the price, if I have purchased in Feb, it is cheaper by 1K as March prices were inflated 1K for all categories of AVEO. So in short, my price should be $52,088 in Feb Hi Chevycat: I have heard the FM transmitter, Xaiver is right that it is only radio quality, somemore you need to use an external device (eg iPOD). more tedious, imagine everytime you park your car, need to hide the iPOD... Godfinger Neutral Newbie March 14, 2005 Share March 14, 2005 Hi VGIS is on Engine and not Transmission. So if anyone BS you that VGIS is on Transmission then I think you better read and understand more on your car model rather then letting anyone BS you.
