Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 Oh yesssss...................it can still get many asses moving, and double quick too. Max torque (340) at a lowly 2500rpm. ↡ Advertisement
Assassin Clutched December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 "The Asstrek is a 1.5 tonner!" It's the same weight as my car...and its got 80bhp more some more !!
Jman888 Moderator December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 definitely drink like a fish..probably a whale... imagine the same Evo engine matched to an auto transmission and so much more weight to haul around....= bad formula for fuel consumption...... Does fish actually drink water ? Does it really make any different if one drive with light right foot and the car will still have high fuel consumption? 240bhp, probably only need half to drive in SG road and the rest in N-S highway
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 With 340Nm at 2500 and permanent 4WD!
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 With 240bhp, fuel consumption is last of the priorities! If it's a consideration, then drive a G9!
Soya Supersonic December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 Hey, Airtrek Turbo's claimed 0-100kmh is 8.4 secs. Many G9 owners also claim the same timing. So maybe G9 is the answer after all!! haha....
Ug__ Neutral Newbie December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 Uncle 7, seems like everyone also call you like that. Anyway, heard the consumption for the Airtrek Turbo R is quite high. So if you are accustomed to your camry consumption, than you are going to get a rude shock UG
Jman888 Moderator December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 i also get a shock when i see some posted that their G9 or Sunny is consuming 8km/l How low can the fuel consumption that AirTrek turbo get??

Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 G9 at 8.4???? OK, I'll ditch my babe for the G9 then...... Actually, with 240 horses, a century sprint of 8.4 is rather disappointing. But then, if you look at this objectively, it's very good already.
Soya Supersonic December 10, 2002 Share December 10, 2002 Most manufacturerers exaggerate their 0-100 kmh claims anyway so kinda take all these century sprint figures wif a pinch of salt (esp ones that even exceed the manufacturer's claims....wah liao! ). 8.4 secs may sound "slow" on paper but it's actually pretty fast in the real world. Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 10, 2002 Share December 10, 2002 Yup, I do agree with you that 8.4 is pretty fast for a SUV. Maybe I expected more because they tagged is as a SUV with Evo engine. Fast but not seat pushing fast! And with 240 horses, I sorta expected that when I testdrove it!
Selespeed156 Neutral Newbie December 10, 2002 Share December 10, 2002 (edited) You've tested the AssTrek Turbo? Me too...... Many of the AR guys couldn't bother about the Jap makes .... They seems to be only interested in Conti Cars. The AssTrek is fast enough for an SUV... Edited December 10, 2002 by Selespeed156

Super7 Turbocharged December 11, 2002 Author Share December 11, 2002 (edited) Closest rival to the Airtrek is Subaru Forester Turbo. Styling may be less appealing to some (subjective) but perfomance very good and comfy too. Heard that the Airtrek TurboR drinks like a fish , something like 6 km per litre. yeah, i have also tested the Forestor Turbo:- the acceleration is good enuff for me (about 8 sec for 0-100, Airtrek about 7 sec...), the inteior feels more spacious, and it costs more than 10k less ......... but it has less features such as triptonic (not an very important issue with me btw), slightly less 'posh' interior (any way, both models are considered non luxurious cars), weaker showoff factor (ie without full body kit as the RalliArt for the Airtrek, muz admit i like to show off quite naturally)....... all in all, i rate the Forestor rather close to the Airtrek, except i somehow prefer the look of the Airtrek (more agressive with the body kit....) cheers Edited December 11, 2002 by Super7 ↡ Advertisement
