" .......... any comment from u ? ..... "

hmmm........ mind very slow now after tea break [:/] ....... poor consumption could be due to:-

heavy foot,

too much extra weights in the car (eg if you go to gym, please keep your dumb bells there and not in your car boot),

forget to shift to higher gear and always stuck at 2nd.......

etc etc ..........

heard another G9 owner has similar high consumption problem which BM also cannot solve last time .......... you are not alone, at least ....

cheers

The number of Corolla G9 on the road is still sizeable considering that the model is the grandfather generation of the present Corolla Altis 2008 model.

Those who still hold on to G9 can share what is your mileage now and what are the car parts that you have replaced and the mileage at which the part replacement is done?

Mcf777, it is amazing you never changed anything other than normal wear and tear items over 196,000km.

How about fan belt and water pump?

wonder the current altis can last as long as the G9?

I think it should. Altis is G9 anyway unless thai made really make a difference....

Many things are considered to be wear and tear. ie, shock absorbers, engine mounts, ....?

Just for comparison to G9, My Mazda323 also 7 years ago before I scrapped it. Ran about 160km before scrap? Changed rear absorbers as it started getting noisy around 70k. Then engine mounts were changed around 100k when the engine shaking was felt (manual car). Timing belt + water pump was changed at 100k but when dismantled, I thought they looked ok.

Usually, well designed cars can last for over 10years without need for major maintenance when usual servicing is done.

What I was impressed with G9 back in 2001 was its engine, one of the 1st few Toyota models with vvti.

Torquey low end, very frugal and its 4 disc brakes really bites well.

She may not win a beauty contest, but she delivers reliability that few can match as many are still alive and well on today's ever more conjested road....

Ah pek? That is nearly 100K during year 2002. Maybe u are right. Only ah pek can afford that amount.

Sad to say, my current car is also ah pek car.

Maybe to upgrade to SSS, is that call stylish?

I'm still holding on to my 2002 G9 which has high PARF rebate(85%) and high COE 30K, and I cant bear to scrap it! ....Many parts have been replaced due to wear & tear cos my milleage is now 235K km and still going strong.....

Some of them includes the following, but the list is not exhaustive:

(1) Front Lower Arm Bars

(2) Full Engine Mounting

(3) Front ARB Stabilizer Link Bar

(4) Aircon Cooling coil and a/con flushing

(5) All 4 wheel bearings

(6) Manual Clutch kit & Cover

(7) Rear Handbrake horse-shoe brake lining

(8) Suspension (Teins Super wgons)

(9) Fan Belt and Pulley

(10) Light Weight Crank Pulley

(11) Exhaust (Simota) PU Ring Holders

(12) Maintenance Free Battery

(13) Big Brake Kit upgrade with S/S brake hose

(14) Brake Fluid flushings & radiator flushing

(15) Stainless Steel OWS air-filter

(16) Fuel-Filter change every 80k

Almost all the above have been professionally serviced by Riverview Auto and that's why my G9 is still maintained in tip-top showroom condition and still having more than sufficient power & good FC of 13-14km/L! [thumbsup]
