Kelpie 2nd Gear March 7, 2005 Share March 7, 2005 1. Some cars come with the heat insulation board behind the hood. it helps to protect paint work on the hood. Is this a neccessity? 2. Some also mentioned that it helps to reduce engine noise. Is this true? 3. What is roughly the market price to install one? Please advise. Thank you. Secondhand Neutral Newbie March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 Erm... Never saw this kind of setup b4 leh... But I think it's impossible to get the engine cooler that it is now... Maybe unless u install Thermaltake under the hood Sure confirm ur engine temp will drop 5'C... Can overclock too...
Pisces69 6th Gear March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 Most accessories shop can install for u. About $60-70. They have several grades & prices differ. U can also buy from outside & DIY install but if u not good at DIY, get shop to do it as they do a good job. Done mine 6 years back, still as good as new. Normal_aspirated Clutched March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 (edited) next would be some guys adapting peltier devices for air-conditioning... Heard that it's being used by NASA project for aircon. It is mostly used by computer buffs for overclocking their CPUs. why not if it cheap and energy efficient enough. No more energy guzzling compressor motor is being used. Maded Neutral Newbie March 8, 2005 Share March 8, 2005 could also use it to cool charge air, in place of the intercooler in a PC, we'll have the problem of condensation... i think not much of a problem with cars...
