Mojoe Neutral Newbie April 15, 2005 Share April 15, 2005 wow... C4 may price itself out.. I thought it would be comparable to the Astra and Megane, but it's around 5k premium over those rides right? and the VTR for $120k+?? Ermm... priced against Golf GTi? Not saying it's not a good car, but.. must really be a fan of Citroen and Sebastian Loeb
Furrynadz 5th Gear April 15, 2005 Share April 15, 2005 definitely overpriced...as with all new launches first batch c5 all gone liao guess have to wait for half yr to find out the "real" price...m2 also drop a lot after half yr but driving wise new c5 can makan all the jap high end like 2.4 camry, 2.3 cefiro and maz6

Mojoe Neutral Newbie April 16, 2005 Share April 16, 2005 saw in the papers today... they put it at 88k i think for the 1.6 if that's the case, "overpriced" seems like an understatement Tis a good thing that the manufacturers are taking back distributorship then...
Mojoe Neutral Newbie April 16, 2005 Share April 16, 2005 at that kind of price (88k for a 1.6 if the papers are correct... and it's priced against the likes of Astra in UK)... hard to fall in love actually .. and i'll say the same thing if the new focus is priced at that range as well April's CAR mag stated the price of the 2-door C4 VTS is slightly cheaper than the 2-door Astra Turbo by 300 quids
Julian Clutched April 16, 2005 Share April 16, 2005 C4 VTS is slightly cheaper than Astra T only.... i heard too... but is the VTS a Turbo as well?
Furrynadz 5th Gear April 16, 2005 Share April 16, 2005 (edited) The 180bhp unit in the VTS has a different character again. It's the engine already seen in the Peugeot 206 GTI 180, with continuously-variable valve timing, a free-flowing cylinder head and a peaky power delivery. It's smooth enough at low speeds but lights up around 4000rpm, passing the torque peak at 4750rpm and delivering maximum power at 7000rpm. That said, its performance figures are brisk rather than blistering: 0-62mph takes 8.4 seconds, but the VTS will run to an impressive 141mph helped by a low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.28. its new 16-valve cylinder head was co-developed with Lotus, whose engineers have improved the intake and exhaust gas flow, added continuously variable inlet valve timing and revised the engine management system to wring 180bhp from the motor without resorting to a turbo. That makes it the most highly tuned 2.0-litre petrol in Peugeot's range, Engine: 1997cc four-cylinder 16-valve dohc, variable inlet timing Max power: 180bhp at 7000rpm Max torque: 149lb ft at 4750rpm Max speed: 140mph 0-62mph acceleration: 7.4 seconds Fuel consumption (combined): 32.8mpg CO2 emissions: 204g/km this engine is a very good one new generation of mini cooper will use peugeot/citroen engine blocks imagine cooper s now only 170hp with 1.6L right...use this block + sc how? Mojoe Neutral Newbie April 17, 2005 Share April 17, 2005 (edited) so it's true.... 88k... let's see... 88k can get you an Integra IS; top up a bit more for the basic Rex; an Astra or Megane or Mazda 3 with loads of cash to spare to mod, pay insurance, pay petrol... for the die hard Citreon fans then... 10k more than the astra and megane and mazda 3... rigghhtt... maybe for the die hard fans of Advance Auto rather along with the 138k Megane RS... what are these people thinking??? oh well... who am i to judge...
