Anyone tried/own Outlander?

Thanks, but I don't think a test drive is reqd because it won't tell me much. A test drive is a slow drive for a couple of KMs of good roads that won't show up any good or bad points of the car. Best is to research reviews and road tests, and to hear from owners like yourself.

Saw a light color new Outlander at Marine Parade this morn - first time seeing one on the road. Find the rear end design not that appealing. It is a big SUV.

ya...me saw a black outlander at bukit timah area too..........hmmm IMHO, i quit like the design. I had seen both new outlander and new Rav4 on the road, i find that the outlander look better in design and of course the 18 inch rim make it stand out........haha........really outstanding...I like!

Hi,

i like the outlook of your car,

all along thinking its a Pajero [blush]

btw not sure what your "tick" prob is,

but i experienced it once....

until i realise its my extended antenna

that knocks against the slanting mscp ramp/roof

when i turn that creates that sound [laugh]

No lah...is definately not. Cos my car is antenna less.

Is just LOUSY quality by Mitsubishi their trademark.

No more Mitsubishi cars for me. [thumbsdown]

If not for the warrenty the Forester is better. But the looks of the car is too retro 4 my liking. Subaru better wake up.

Bang balls that after i got my Outlander the clear my model at low price and within 6mths of collection of my car they launched the brand new Outlander.

For the money I paid... [furious]

Actually when did you get your 'older' Outlander? This year Jan? You've not been researching on the 2007 Outlander when it was announced in Oct/Nov 2005?

Was in Fulco last week to collect my IC after the trade-in transaction. There's a white Airtrek NA in the showroom. Perhaps clearing stock. [;)]

I just traded-in my 4yr old Airtrek NA for the new Outlander.

The gadgets in Outlander are cool. The CVT transmission takes time to get used to though. Still within break-in period, and thus I havent try sprinting at traffic light yet. FC is comparable to the Airtrek.

Hi what is the exact FC of your Outlander and previous Airtrek NA?

does yours have steering wheel gear-shift lever?

Yes my Outlander G has the shift paddles behind the steering wheel.

Hard to estimate exact FC as my driving pattern (aka destination and route) changes daily as my work is mobile.

Within city driving with lots of start/stop and low-speed the FC is only about 8km/l. Highway driving (approx 10-15min) the FC is about 10-11km/l. The above values are as computed via the onboard Outlander computer. Based on driving history the fuel top frequency/amount is about the same as my Airtrek NA.

If you've noticed, the Airtrek NA is 2.0 while Outlander is 2.4 engine. Why the FC is similar is due to lower RPM required on Outlander to achieve the same speed (eg Airtrek my avg RPM is 2K+RPM for cruising @ 90km/hr, but Outlander is about 1.5KRPM).

I c...does your Outlander has an average FC counter that at the end of the day/trip

or before top up you can review the overall average FC?

Hi Ac67,

I am getting about the same FC on my car as well. Average of about 11km/l when on 80/20 expressway/city. I do find the Dueler tyres a bit noisy. Thinking about changing in a few months time, but I found out that the 225/55/18 sizing is not a common size. May have to use a slightly different size.

So how's the sound system? I understand that the door for your G Line was uprated to cater for the sound system as well. Must be a pretty powerful system on board.

regards

The FC is realtime. You get the readout while on the road. I understand the FC counter reset algorithm can be changed through agent during servicing. I left it at default (> 4hr car stop do a full reset).

You can reset the FC counter anytime too.

Yes the sound is great.

I agree on the tire noise, but I dont think I'll change them - perhaps until I cant bear with it. [;)]

Yeah, Japanese website states that the door has been insulated for our equivalent 'G' line.

By the way, have you done your first 1K servicing?

I just sent mine in this morning, overshot the 1K mark by a couple of hundred as there were no available earlier timings. Asked the SA to check the alignment as the car has a tendency to pull slightly to the left.

Switched to driving on the 4WD mode this morning as it was pouring at my area. Felt that the car is slightly heavier to drive. Probably due to the drive train having to power up 4 wheels.

How do you find the brakes on the Outlander? Personal opinion is that it is a bit soft but manageable. I don't do high speeds unless I am in Malaysia, Singapore slo-slo..

I have about 150+km to go before servicing - so probably next week. I havent receive my Mitsubishi Mania vouchers for redemption of free servicing yet!

Yes the brakes are soft - exactly the same behaviour as my Airtrek which I've learned to like.

Pull to left? Could it be due to the way our highway is built - sloping slightly towards left to drain rain water? I dont have issues with Airtrek or Outlander (or may be I'm used to this pulling-to-left?) Perhaps not so obvious in Lane 2.

Neither have I receive my vouchers. Spoke to the SA, he said should not be a problem as they have the records online. I will let you know the outcome later.

I think you had better make a booking. I booked mine when I was at 900km, and had to wait a week for the next available slot.. so the mileage dragged on to 1.3k.. I am getting my service done at Pandan cause it is nearer to my office.

I am hoping to see a better FC once the servicing is done. BTW, I did SP for the tyrewells and fenders. It is much better than without it. Probably crossed out about 30-40% of the road/tyre noise.

Already booked online, next available slot is 12th July morning @ Alexandra. Should be just nice for the 1K servicing.

Although the SE told me to top-up fuel of 95RON or higher (since it's MIVEC), I'd read through the manual which states the minimum is 90RON. Have been on 98 and 95 for the last 2 topups. Think I'll switch back to 92RON which I've been using for Airtrek since 2002.

You on 95RON too?

Also please come back and response when is the next servicing as per the computer, is it 5K or 10K. [;)]

Just got my car back. Am informed that the next servicing is 5K then 10K as they are using mineral oil for the first 10K. Thereafter, C&C will switch to synthetic and the service interval will be every 10K.

Guess what? Asked them to check the alignment and all they noted was "checked tyre pressure".. WTF, that was the first thing I checked. Was in a rush, so did not question the SA. I will just have to check out to see if the alignment is ok.

I am filling up with 95RON. Let me know how the performance goes with 92RON.

hmm... I thought most cars that have realtime FC meters can calculate average.

while those cars that have average FC may not have real time FC readings. Maybe there is a toggle button/switch for you to adjust like in most car that comes with it, u can check your manual.
