Anita,

I called up C&C to inquire on the new Outlander. They said launch will be April, but they can arrange test drive and take order now - only at the Leng Kee shop.

Yes, C&C model is a 5 seater, whereas those brought in by the PIs are 7 seaters (2 tiny seats on the 3rd row though).

I have been comparing the Outlander with the new RAV4, and the RAV4 wins outright in the looks dept; Outlander has the more sophisticated 4WD system, and other technology.

just wondering any feedback on the new outlander? its been quite a while liao since launch.....Didn't really get to see the new outlander on the road

just called C&C and they are offerring the G model at 91K after cash discount. The G model look tempting with factory leather for Japan.........solid RockPort sound system, electric seat for driver.....etc

Hi,

i like the outlook of your car,

all along thinking its a Pajero [blush]

btw not sure what your "tick" prob is,

but i experienced it once....

until i realise its my extended antenna

that knocks against the slanting mscp ramp/roof

when i turn that creates that sound [laugh]

Hi,

I was considering to buy the Outlander few weeks ago, but when I was in Bangkok last week, I saw a lot of Mitsubshi pick ups, with the front of the Outlander (exactly the same), and the body of a pickup. That's it, I will go for a Harrier now.

guess its a tough decisions now between the new forester 2.5XT and the new outlander.

the forester to me is more on the hardcore performance SUV with turbo and solid handdling where the outlander is more on the "class" type of SUV like the harrier.

Technically the Forester 2.5XT is fantastic; but the shape/looks....yaak! The facelifted front makes it look like a pick-up truck. What a shame; otherwise it will be my #1 choice for a SUV.

I just traded-in my 4yr old Airtrek NA for the new Outlander.

The gadgets in Outlander are cool. The CVT transmission takes time to get used to though. Still within break-in period, and thus I havent try sprinting at traffic light yet. FC is comparable to the Airtrek.

hi bro, ic....so yours is the "G" or "M" model. Seems to me the "G" version is a good buy now as it comes with all the premium stuffs. Wondering hows's AWD. It has three mode of selections rite. Does that means if u were to drive 2WD most of the time, u will save petrol more..........

Well both Forester 2.5XT and Outlander are top notch to me.....just IMHO. Had shortlised new Rav4 too but decided to drop it due to the plain look although it has increases in size.

Mine is the 'G' model.

Have not tried 4WD/4WD-Lock mode in highway thus no comment on FC for these 2 modes. Only tried 4WD in a short off-road drive in Yishun. In theory, 2WD should provide best FC.

Congrats for getting the new Outlander; yours must be one of the few on the Spore roads.

Understand there are 3 selectable modes - 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD. Believe the 4WD Auto is similar to the CRV/RAV4 "realtime" system, i.e. with the back wheels kicking in once slip is detected on the front wheels. What about 4WD? If you swith this on, does it stay full time 4WD even when you are running at 100 km/hr, or does it change to 2WD once it reaches a predetermined speed, say 40 km/hr?

The 3 modes are 2WD, 4WD and 4WD-lock. The second and third mode are adaptive as I understand it, as the torque is distributed to back wheels all the time but with different torque ratios. It stays in 4WD regardless of speed for these 2 modes though.

Because the switching is electronic, I'll leave it at 2WD most of the time. And I'll switch to 4WD when needed (for example during heavy downpour) while the car is still moving.

It has ASC (active stability control, for correcting under/over steer). This kicks in even in 2WD mode from what I understand.

You may visit local and US website for details. Of course specification differences are there, but the core functions and features are identical.

Thanks for the explanation on the 3 drive modes.

You moved from the Airtrak (2WD?) to the Outlander. Did you consider any other makes/models before deciding on the Outlander? In terms of traction in the wet, do you find a big difference between the Airtrak and the Outlander?

Care to share with us your views - good and bad points of the Outlander?

In the next few months I will be looking at getting a replacement for my CRV - thus my interest in the Outlander.

Yup, my previous ride was a 2WD Airtrek.

The new Outlander is definitely more stable especially while cornering - probably due to the strut bar which is absent in the Airtrek. The Outlander has more grip in wet driving, since the tyre is broader.

To be honest, I didnt test drive other makes of SUV. The primary decision factor is the look/feel/luxury feature (since my wife is the primary passenger). Performance is secondary. Other SUV I've sort-of considered includes the Nissan Murano.

I've driven Honda CRV while in Australia doing outback trip years back. It doesnt feel as good as my old Airtrek as the CRV feels very stiff in the suspension and the driving experience is like driving a 3-tonner (I was a 3-tonner driver before) even on proper road.

Thanks for the feedback. Will keep the Outlander in my shortlist, even though I have 1 negative with it - the CVT; like the 3 drive modes though. Hope to see more Outlander on the road soon.
