Treesmaker Clutched February 18, 2005 Share February 18, 2005 I forgot to shut off my small lights one night, luckily I could start my car a few hours later. Does the Aveo have a buzzer to warn you that your lights are on when we switch off our engine? I hear no such warning sound in my car. CNN, I am very disappionted with GM left out this small detail to save money. All my cheap 1.0 litres cars had headlamp buzzers. ↡ Advertisement
Genie47 1st Gear February 18, 2005 Share February 18, 2005 With some guide books on automotive electronics, you can actually DIY one. I forgot the name. I think it is from Australia.

Viz88 Neutral Newbie February 19, 2005 Share February 19, 2005 That is what I have been wanted to add to my Aveo. Thanks for the link. May have to go to Sim Lim Tower to look for a normal 12V buzzer. Wonder it will work ???
Treesmaker Clutched February 21, 2005 Author Share February 21, 2005 I am going to try with the small speaker in the computer case. If it works, I will source for better parts.
Kklim Supercharged February 21, 2005 Share February 21, 2005 Bought one from Sim Lim (the newer one) for my Matrix but haven't gotten around to fixing it. Location of shop: go up escalator to 2nd storey, walk to row of shops at back, 2nd or 3rd shop from left. Paid $2 or $2.50. It's called a piezo buzzer; remember to ask for the 12V one. Soya Supersonic February 21, 2005 Share February 21, 2005 is that sim lim tower or sim lim square?
Genie47 1st Gear February 21, 2005 Share February 21, 2005 The "newer one" should refer to Square. Tower is older.
Genie47 1st Gear February 21, 2005 Share February 21, 2005 Actually can do a lot of things if you are electrically savvy. I think Autospeed has many projects with schematics. You can even make a cabin light dimmer. Makes any car very Conti. As you leave the car, the cabin light slowly dims off instead of switch off when you close the door. Very very upmarket. Treesmaker Clutched February 22, 2005 Author Share February 22, 2005 This is a better link: http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/headalrm.html This is a generic design, so any electricians can build this? I beleive all parts can be obtained locally. I will be able to build this, however I dont know which ends of a diodes or transitors connect where. Maded Neutral Newbie February 25, 2005 Share February 25, 2005 diodes have a bar at one end of the component. that would be the + side. The + side of a LED is the longer leg... transistor i cant remember liao pai seh!!
Ferris Neutral Newbie February 26, 2005 Share February 26, 2005 Sama sama Can understand, but the transistors legs got three, left, right and center legs... Hmm... Sounds familiar, right? Don't know where to go...
