Any oil is good. Do you know that your Honda engine is spec'd to run 20wt oil?

 

I definitely wont be running 20wt oils ... usually hit 4K-5K rpm levels.

Actually the 4k RPM above levels are prolonged hard driving. Those momentary sprints to get out to the expressway don't count. You have to hold the 4k and above RPM for a long time like those "NSH speeding ticket collection" competition.

New stuff? Schaeffers' Anyway, I miss the 5W20 in my car. The level of quietness is unsurpassed. The Conoco 5W30 seems pretty good by many standards. Yeoman and Godfinger likes it.

2yrs? Hmmm... try the 10W30 first. If there are no issues like oil disappearing for no apparent reason (blow-by) or leaks, go down to 5W30 in the next change. Still nothing, go down to 5W20 finally .

Beside more fuel efficient, what's the advantage of using a thinner base oil btw?

Better lubrication. Engine gets protected at start up and does very well even in normal day to day operation. Just don't go tracking or go on "speeding ticket collection" along NSH.

Holy! GDI! I think it is better if you use an oil with a higher amount of detergents or an ester based oil. Redline is ester based and I think BC stocks 10W30. The other ester based oil is Chemlube and it is also available as 10W30. You can try RP 10W30 and arguably it is the cheapest of all mentioned.
