Service interval by mileage or odometer?

Can anyone confirm if the recommended servicing intervals by SA (1000km, 5000km and 10000km) is by mileage or odometer reading? I thought its by odometer but...

...went for my 1st service at 1000km and they put a reminder sticker thats states next service at 6000km (odometer reading). If this is correct, the next scheduled service after the 6000km should be 16000km (6000+10000km).

Somehow I think they wrote wrongly or I misinterpret their definition. [:/]

1st servicing: 1000km

2nd servicing: 6000km (1+5)

3rd servicing: 11000km (6+5)

4th servicing: 21000km (11+10)

I also got the same serving remider sticker.

After I went for my 1K servicing, they wrote on the stick next servicing to be at 6K but I went back at 5K). After my 5K servicing, they wrote on the sticker to be 15K. Not sure are to follow the sticker or not [confused][confused][confused]

Just follow it. FYI, car servicing is based on mileage on the odo and also time since the last servicing.

People like Ah-veo who clocks little mileage, his servicing should be every 6mths. For people who clock a lot of mileage, every 10-15k. So it is 6mths or 10k whichever comes first.

i think SA go by type of engine oil used.

if 2nd service use fully syn, then 3rd svcing at 16k instead of 11k.

but i remember there's some small issues abt oil filter change interval.

"3 mths or 5k" applies for maybe the '70s or '80s. Oil and fuel have improved a lot since. From what I know, for new BMWs, the FIRST service is at 25k km!
