Guys, i got a new silver camry.

I parked in an open lot at my work place. factory.

At it is near a main road, it gets very dusty at the end of the day.

I keep my car clean for the weekend after saturday washing. but after one day park at work, there is a layer of dust on my car.

IS it advisable to dust off the dust using a feather duster at the end of each day? OR

wait until i wash again at the end of the week; whilst i splash it off with water.

Advice appreciated. Thanks [;)]

If you have a coating of sealant or wax, using a feather duster shouldnt scratch your car. I am using it too. So far not even fine scratches.

Prefer seasoned chamois, go for MF is you can afford.

No short cuts, I wash and dry a section at a time from top to bottom. Always ensure the car is squickly clean before drying! If time is running short, a section at a time is better than a skimpy job for the entire car, just my style tongue.gif not even 2centslaugh.gif

i use a feather duster between washes. You have to be quite light handed or you may leave scratches. I do it coz my car is black and dust is extra visible... Too tiring to wash every other day... [;)]

Micro fibre, a reknown detailing cloth that wouldn't leave any scatches on the car! thumbsup.gif

Turtle wax package comes with 3 pcs. Just nice for cleaning, drying & waxing

You can use the feather duster to cane your car if it is misbehaving. [sly]

But on a serious note, microfibre cloth as recommended by some bros here. [thumbsup]

Hi Urban,

Understand how you feel about your new car.

Heart always pain when there are new scratches..patches...streaks..dusty etc.

And like you, my work place is beside a construction site, imagine the dust!

Few options other than washing:

1) Car cover

Pro: Perfect to prevent dust on YOUR CAR.

Cons1: You still need to clean the cover as the dust is now on YOUR COVER.

Cons2: High possibly fine scratches form at your sides due to COVER sliding across when you deploy/undeploy the cover over your car.

2) Feather duster

Pro: Good and easy to get rid of dust on your car, but not 100%.

Pro2: Easily cleaning of some feather duster.( Spin the duster and the dust will be off)

Cons1: If too hard, cause scratches on car.

Cons2: Not all dust stick on duster. Some will be push to the side of your car. Ugly.

But ok if you wash your car every week.

3) Compress Air

Pro: If your factory got compress air, can use it to blow your car clean of dust.

Very clean!

Cons: Not easily available.

Yours is silver color, not so bad.

I own a black Camry, so imagine [shakehead]

So my choice?

I try all 3 above. Best is the compress air. But I dun wan to get fired

by my boss... [lipsrsealed]

Just wash my car more regularly.( One week 2 to 3 times)

In time scratches will be formed, its a battle we always loses. [:|]

By then, think you will not be so bothered already.

So try within means can liao.

Anyway, was told that the appearance condition of the car does not worth much

nowadays if you wanna sell your car later. So not worth the time.

When you wanna sell, just go for a cheap respray.(S$500~S$1000)

A respray definitely looks better.
