Supercharged

Got one with a heat shield in my Matrix. Have had it for more than half a year and it works great. Love the growl when overtaking container trucks on the PLUS highway.

The air inlet for the simota is quite small if I'm not wrong. Ur low to mid end should be quite shiok. Ur high end may lose out due to suffocation.

Hey bro... long time never see you post...

Anyway Pat installed a Simota Carbon shielded Simota intake and did some custom piping... it was interested...

The Simota thingy looks like the BMC CDA airbox ... Maybe I should've got the BMC CDA instead ... seems to make more sense to me than my current setup... [:/]

apparently its nicely constructed but not techincally sound... as the intake is directly above the extractor HOT HOT... [thumbsdown] and as mentioned the scoup is rather small. I still strongly believe low and mid will not suffer infact sud be better. [thumbsup] However at top spd... may suffer den again how often u hit top spd at ard 160kmh and above? Having said tat ... Vtec is meant to kick in at high rpms... so wif that restriction wouldnt u defeat the purpose of vtec?

Hows the induction sound by the way? Moi almost installed it too... till heard the above ... and non-recommendations from other intake gurus... [:)]

Anyway, do give us ur feedback... may still change my mind... keke [laugh]

I totally agree with you...even with the heat shield, i find it very hot inside the air duct [thumbsdown] and the scooup is quite small as well...however, the good thing is that the opening of the intake lies just at the tip of the bonnet, so i assume that it will take in a lot of cold air from outside.Hopefully the cold air from outside are not heated up along the way into the engine..as i mentioned earlier that the air duct is very much heated up [confused] . Do you think further wrapping it with those heat-shield cloth will help?

Btw, i don't really understand your part on vtec...

The induction sound is fantastic....i notice that the growling actually invites many stares from other motorists [thumbsup]

Have a nice weekend bros.... [wave]

Hi

Where did you install the Simota air intake, yours a little different from me?

By the way, what is the brand of the front strut bar you have installed, how much and where did you get it? I am thinking of getting one also.

Sorry for so many question, hope you can help.

Are you driving the manual? I am driving a manual, found that the low to mid is abit weak, high is o.k. Have to do something to improve the low to mid.

Bro,

Is there any remedy to it? Was wondering yhy is it that i have different response from different users. Some say that with this setup, my low end will suffer but my high end will be good but some commented that the problem is with the high end. [confused]

I only installed this thing for a couple of days and so far i find that my low and mid improved....but haven really tried high end yet..Will update once i try it. [thumbsup]

I did mine at this shop call Tee Guan at Toh Guan Rd. In what way is it different? Mine is 2nd hand one(but owner used a few months only)...paid 180 for it. Wat abt yrs? Done where? How much? [;)]

The brand is Silver but i highly suspect it is a fake one la..cost only $70. Nevertheless, i still find an improvement after installing it. I did it at Fong Kim Exhaust at Ubi..the strut bar is pretty light as well...think it is a good buy. [thumbsup]

I am driving auto...maybe thats why we have differing results. I find my low and mid ok.

Hi

I did mine at McWell, S$228 with installaion.

To improve your low and mid, have to do I/H/E mod, and the last mod is to add a VAFC or PiggyBack chips, like Obit, Emanage, or Unichip to bring out the full protential of the mod.

Thanks for your info for the strut bar. I am looking at Aultec.

The reason why your high end will suffer is due to the fact that the opening of the air intake is rather small as compared to other open-pod filters (e.g HKS, Apexi, etc...)...

Actually, mine intake system is also an open-pod cone filter but it is wrapped by the heatshield. Maybe i should remove the black heat shield and do my own heatshield thereby not restricting airflow...Do u think its feasible bro?? [:)]
