Alant 1st Gear March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 Hi, how to service the Simota air filter and at what mileage interval? Thanks.
Marcz Neutral Newbie March 2, 2005 Share March 2, 2005 hi, just wanna know, the nuts are 10mm hex right? so all i need is a socket extension?
Assassin Clutched March 3, 2005 Share March 3, 2005 Yup, thats is correct.
Assassin Clutched March 3, 2005 Share March 3, 2005 You can treat it like the other filters... which would be around 15,000 km. Sometimes it might be earlier if you're driving around dusty areas a lot though. So best would be to check on the condition every 5000 km or so. Just my 5 cents. Alant 1st Gear March 5, 2005 Share March 5, 2005 Recently change to open pod filter (similar to Blitz SUS Power filter) using stainless steel mesh...first day low end torque still OK. On 2nd day, probably ECU has learned of the excess air volume...low end torque lose out abit...need to be heavy footed when moving off. BTW, I already have ducted a pipe to direct cold air from the bumper as from previous stock air box setup.
Assassin Clutched March 5, 2005 Share March 5, 2005 Yours is an auto ? Low end will suffer, esp for Auto. So most people will suggest dropping in a filter instead of doing a cone filter. Its still your choice though. The induction sound is nice.
Alant 1st Gear March 7, 2005 Share March 7, 2005 Hi, I don't find the induction roar loud leh. It's just that when I >3000rpm using drop-in with CAI the sound is higher pitch...when present open pod, >3000rpm the sound is more mellow.
Assassin Clutched March 7, 2005 Share March 7, 2005 The sound to each person is subjective I suppose.... so something to me may be loud, but it may not be so for someone else. I think for drop-in filter.. the performance gains would be better for an auto car then ?
Alant 1st Gear March 10, 2005 Share March 10, 2005 Yes, drop-in is better for low end...however, I find open pod is better revving.
Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 10, 2005 Share March 10, 2005 very true, esp when the open pod/cone filter is without proper heat shielding. best is cone filter with 100% enclosed heat shield like the Twister ones from Green
Assassin Clutched March 11, 2005 Share March 11, 2005 Yup..agreed.
Breezepass79 Neutral Newbie August 8, 2005 Share August 8, 2005 (edited) I know a simota dealer whom i managed to cut a deal with. they are willing to offer a good price if we purchase in bulk. he also told me that they have a warranty on the filter which is rare coz previous workshop whom i have spoken to is not willing to provide that. i am intrested to get myself a simota but a discount is sweet so i hope to gather all interested parties to come together so we can get a good cut... thanks!! to know more about it you can go to their website @ www.simota.com pls contact me if interested. Breezepass79 Neutral Newbie August 13, 2005 Share August 13, 2005 i believe there is a stainless steel filter instead of the blue cotton. it will improve the air intake level.
Kax2 Neutral Newbie August 21, 2005 Share August 21, 2005 (edited) AEM V2 is better but cost 3 times the price. It's a SRI that works almost like a CAI. Edited August 21, 2005 by Kax2
