Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 This brand is new in SG ... how much are u quoted btw? If u r driving the 1.8T, chipping should be the 1st mod, most value for $$. ↡ Advertisement
Dtvox Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Around mid $2K... Piggyback around half the price...anyway I am happy with 150BHP.
Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 (edited) You're driving a Passat? It depends if you want to go beyond.... like a KO4... 'cos no point chipping now then when you switch to KO4 you gotta pay again to rechip ... why not just try out the revo trial for a feel of stage 1 upgrade Edited May 4, 2005 by Lightspeed
Dtvox Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 I'm afraid to start. The list goes on after stage 1. Suspension, brakes, exhaust, etc... Wouldn't mind going for the Revo trial but scared getting poison and it will be too late to stop after that... With the KO4, you should be looking at around 250+HP already...You there yet??? Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Still far from there... I can't go that far anyway as my auto tx won't be able to take it... 4sp only...
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Blame it on the Euro. But it's really quite a day and nite difference with the stage 1 chip. What's the year of your car? I actually have a spare stage 1 chip by wett lying around.
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Most chip companies give good discount, or charge nominal sum, when u upgrade the chip. In some cases, i read from a US forum that the coy actually upgrade for them for free.
Dtvox Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 I will join you in the Euro. Mine's a B5 Passat. You drove or currently still drive a 1.8T VAG car?
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Same car ... mine's a plus though, the one with s/roof. So perhaps the chip can fit your car. PM me if u r interested. Since it's my spare, i can let u have it on the low for like less than 20% of mtech price + coffee & kaya toast. Need to check suitability though. U can go to www.chip-tuning.com to learn more abt this wett chip.
Dtvox Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Exactly the same car. Mine's a plus as well and with sunroof... I will definately consider the offer. Cheers
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Oh ... change the suspension too. Stock is toooo comfy already, bounce all over the place right? Chip and suspension, and u are done. But if backside still itch then too bad liao
Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Not in SG
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 U r right. But can always deal with companies outside SG. [sly]
Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Well, if you don't mind the hassle of taking out the chip, sending it to them and waiting for it to come back.... etc. Can get lots of chips locally actually... why not let them handle the hassle...
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 If u already got a chip, likely it's socketed, if not then already. If it is socketed, then it's just a matter of swaping the new one in. No downtime & hassle at all.
Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Yes, I know. But all these things should be transparent to the consumer. Why pay to do everything yourself?
Lightspeed Clutched May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Many options for you, can try Revo trial and see if you like the added power... If you decide to chip up, suggest you look around with the folks at the Vag forum, there should be some used chips going for under 500 bucks
Falc 3rd Gear May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Becoz they give big big discount for upgrades lor. Anyway, always good to know the car better by DIY if one is comfortable. IMHO. ↡ Advertisement
