Dealers won't spend more than $1-2K to do up a car for sale, so u guess what he paid for the car in the 1st place.

Remenber they r now offering only slightly more than scrap (or some offer scrap only) when they buy in.

Do your calculations & if you like the car, Maybe let him earn $1-2K for his profit.

Stand by about $1K for servicing, timing belt (if u don't know the history) & repairs after you get the car. U don't have to spend it all at once but as u drive & find something not right, u have this cash to get it done.

I have to take a photo 1st & try to upload here.

The car's suspension system appeared ok, when I test drive it with 3 person. How do I know that it cannot withstand 5 person's load? You cant expect me to bring 3 person along everytime I go to the car mart right? The dealer will sweat [sweatdrop] , as if I am the gangster leader. [idea] Hmm..maybe you can try bringing 3 person along with you whenever you go to view cars. Hey hey [laugh][laugh]

If it's too soft, prob it's your SPRINGS which u need to check. Try to change all 4 as a set so they r more balanced.

See if u can get a replacement from the scrapyards. Much less $$$ than NEW ones.

Shocks R worn if your car keeps bouncing after going over bump.

I have already mentioned earlier that I got my car in 4/99 for $49k, which was the market price at the time.

Now the dealers r only offering me $16k if in very good condition. I don't think i will sell as I might as well use till scrap, or renew coe again also [confused]

I don't know why u mentioned $18K in two posts already???

R u refering to Gantan's post about $18K???

For me, I mentioned that a couple of dealers offered me $16K for my car if in very good condition, which I decided not to sell.

I might as well use till scrap or renew coe again. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Hard to tell by your description. Might be anything.

If it bothers u, get your mechanic to test drive & see if his diagnosis sounds correct.

If not, get more opinions from other mechanics leh.

Cud b your car not meant to carry such heavy load & it was overloaded. Nothing u can do about it then. Just drive more slowly, especially over bumps.

U meant you got it for just 18k? Wah..glad to hear that wink.gif

Hi Stevegring,

I will be quite contented if i got it at 18k.... but too bad thats jus my goal.... car not bought yet laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

18k liao leh.. the dealer has a whopping profit of 6k. Minus off a coat of new paint (maybe) and 4 new tyres, he

still for 4k+ margin. tongue.gif Like Pisces69 said, they seldom change the rest for u because they are internal parts....

it is up to us to discover if the parts got prob a not. They will only willing to do up the out-look of the car so

that it look nice and attract buyers shocked.gif

IF i buy it at 20k, i bet the very night he close my deal he will go JB happening liao laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

Haiz..sad to hear that. Search patiently. [sweatdrop] 18.5K to 20K range is considered ok in my view..provided he agrees to touch up those defects for you.
