Stevegring Neutral Newbie January 22, 2005 Author Share January 22, 2005 Oh..then mine should be a G6. Is the maintenance high for G6?
Octopus 3rd Gear January 22, 2005 Share January 22, 2005 Well, since I got it Aug 2003, I've replaced a few items progressively, such as shock absorber, carburator, timing-belt and water pump, distributor, etc. Although its an old car, but it gets me from home to work place and back again. FC average 12km/l, which I think is quite OK considering its an old car with carburator engine. If no major problem with this car, I intend to use till COE expires then get a brand new car. Stevegring Neutral Newbie January 22, 2005 Author Share January 22, 2005 Good to hear that! How much have you spent so far? Anyway, I bought it at $18,500 with 6 years and 7 mths left. That means I lose less than $3k per year. On top of that, the dealer will top up the air con, rectify the power window problem, service the brake, touch up the corrosion areas, flush the radiator and recitify the air con problem (it's all written on the receipt). That's pretty cheap, isn't it? What about you? How much did you pay for it?
Stevegring Neutral Newbie January 22, 2005 Author Share January 22, 2005 How much do you spend on the servicing?
Octopus 3rd Gear January 22, 2005 Share January 22, 2005 You've got a much better deal than me. I got mine in August 2003, that time market price cannot compare to now (now car price much lower). Bought it $34,000. It was a rather rush decision cos I just posted to Tuas area at that time, and traveling by public transport from my home to work place takes about 1hr 45min. So went to Kallang area to look at the second-hand car....made my decision on the same day, got the car two days later. Didn't test drive any other car, just test drive one (my current car) and decided straight away. Thinking back, that's not very wise.
Octopus 3rd Gear January 22, 2005 Share January 22, 2005 considering repair works only, more than $1k but less than $2k. those repair are done gradually, as and when required. servicing such as oil change, oil filter, spark plug, air filter, brakes fluid change, steering fluid change, radiator water change not included in the repair costs mentioned above. Stevegring Neutral Newbie January 22, 2005 Author Share January 22, 2005 Oh mine! So sorry to hear that! I quickly grabbed on the car when I read the ad. I went together with my friend, who is a seasoned mechanic in the army and I was his man then. I was impressed with the engine sound (quiet) and had a thorough check before I decided to buy it. It was the third trip then, after visting the Jalan Sultan Textile centre and the commonwealth place. The first one is a cheat!! It placed $12,800 and I called whether was it true or not. When he said true, I quickly went down, only to discovered that it is $24,000. Heard from my remaining dealers that they are a big cheat!
Stevegring Neutral Newbie January 22, 2005 Author Share January 22, 2005 Be very careful when you visit Jalan sultan textile centre, plaza hotel and odeon katong shopping centre.
