Victorhoo Neutral Newbie February 3, 2005 Share February 3, 2005 (edited) so r you saying that cars using EFI are 1 direction? If that is the case based on what you have said..then i think all major car manufactors are all 'wrong' when they are drawing up their schematic...cause all of them are showing a 2 way direction between the breather and the crankcase... major players like KNN and such are all 'wrong' to produce filters that they are selling as an after add on for racing people... i do agreed with the fact that by using these filters, you have to constantly check the filter for its condition and yes oil will dirty and clogged up the filter..but thats how its works yah...it is suppose to do that(trap the oil) and at the same time release pressure and prevent external alien materials from coming in.. like i said the main reason for the closed system is more to emission control (which all major filter makers has warned that those with strict controls are not advisable to use)... you talk about the air flow sensor..but isn't the air flow sensor before the hose where the breather joins back to the main air hose (well at least thats where mine is and mine is a EFI)...so how is it going to sense the air that are coming in after the sensor..r you saying that air will back flow especially when throttle is open?? hard to be convince.. i have read up many other overseas forum regarding this issue...again some ppl agreed and some dun...but most who have done it and technically monitor it..did not see a drop in performance and such although it may be running a bit lean during idling...but apart from that...all the eractic things that you have mention seems to be absense from their cases... i do recommmed you do a search on those... and as a layman...from what you have mentioned, i find it hard to believe Edited February 3, 2005 by Victorhoo ↡ Advertisement
Jigc Neutral Newbie June 15, 2005 Share June 15, 2005 sorry to chime in does engine design with blow-by as a feature? certain not. but it does happen. when blow-by happens, crankcase pressure is high and the pcv valve will shut. take note that this valve is operated with different pressure btw crankcase and manifold. so, where should the pressurised gas go? it will back flow to breather hose. if u install a one way valve at breather hose to prevent the back flow, it will blow the engine ( i guess ). so, the breather hose was designed to be bi-directional...for safety purpose (i would say). ↡ Advertisement
