My regular shop sells CDt Cl 61 for $300 with installation. Soundproofing is $55 per layer with Dynamat Extreme... so it depends how many layers you want. For me, I soundproofed my front 2 door with 2 layers... and my rear doors with 1 layer (who cares about the back passengers anyway?!?!?) heehee... So the soundproofing damage was $330

Which shop, address?

I just bought old stock HD-62 for $250.00 (last set) [bounce2] , may want to consider another CDT for the rear.

Know anyone make custom bass box at budget price? [wave]

so $660 is juz for CDt Cl 61 and soundproofing is it? if i throw in a HU, amplifier, sub-woofer and some good speakers that would be abt 1.5k?

really stupid question here. is amplifier and sub-woofer the same thing? [confused]

wow $250 for HD-62? Isn't that very cheap? Think it's better than the EF model I am looking at. Is this component set or just the speakers?

I think you're right, $660 for CL61 & soundproofing.

Better invest in good HU, it's probably the most important component after speakers. No point running good speakers with crap HU, the details & musicality won't come out.

Heard a few HU today, price between $500+ to $700+. The Clarion has goood clarity, detail with natural tonal quality. Best of the lot but also cost the most.

I got the component set with the older SATNET 456 Xover.

CDT informed me that there will be a new tweeter & Xover upgrade in a couple of weeks time.

Amplifier is the electrical device that amplify the audio signal to drive the speakers (layman terms).

Suwoofer is the speaker designed to play the low frequency of the audio spectrum (bass). Usually 8-15" in diameter.

I think I know why you confused.

There are some amplified subwoofers in the market that means the amplifier is build into the subwoofer enclosure.

The joy of playing audio is that you can upgrade gradually & have fun while doing so.

Go for the CDT & good HU, I think you wil not regret.

Cheers [;)]

Dai-chi is the one that quoted me $320 for CDT w/o installation. He told me that its more expensive cos the CDT that he's selling in manufactured recently only (as in 2004). But when I bought my CDT from my ICE shop, I checked the speakers and they were also manufactured in 2004. And that cost me only $300 with installation.
