E21s Neutral Newbie November 12, 2002 Share November 12, 2002 Actually, based on law of physics, frictional force is dependent on the the weight of the car and the coefficient of friction. So the more heavy the car, the more frictional force exist between the tire and the road. Although I would say the momentum is greater. ↡ Advertisement
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie November 12, 2002 Share November 12, 2002 Bro if Chris offer to give U free mods for using your stream as a test bed I suggest let him try. Alternatively do some intentional ebrakes to build up confidence of your Stream brakes. My brick had long brake pedal travel and a tad of sponginess then hard pedal feel, even after s/s brake hose and DOT 5.1. It's inherent but the brake feel did improve after the hoses and semi-met pads. (Bendix and Mintex were the brands I tried). What tires U running on? Better traction tires will help too. So the more heavy the car, the more frictional force exist between the tire and the road. Although I would say the momentum is greater. The main frictional generators will be the brakes and friction increases with the amount of force applied to the brakes. The frictional force due to the additional weight in the car has less play once the car is put on wheels. So the momentum gain from the additional weight far exceeds the frictional gain from it. Blue Neutral Newbie November 13, 2002 Share November 13, 2002 (edited) How to adjust ? Can try looking for the linkage/plunger at the other end of the brake pedal below the stering wheel, should have an adjusting screw with a locknut. Madarmour Neutral Newbie November 14, 2002 Share November 14, 2002 Ah bro, you're right! New things learnt everyday! Sure doesn't feel the car can stop at a shorter distance under full load, though. Maybe it's just the feeling. Hmmmmmm, need to do it objectively and see. Cheers!
E21s Neutral Newbie November 14, 2002 Share November 14, 2002 U are welcome. Just remember Frictional Force = u x N where u = coefficient of friction while N = downward force. I'm sure me got new things to learn from u too.

Ek3stage 1st Gear December 17, 2002 Share December 17, 2002 u want firmer braking add a brake stopper ...cusco shld have one for stream also. the steel braided hoses DOES nothing to everyday driving...even occassional hard braking also no effect....dont waste $$. If you feel it means something wrong with the original hoses and not because got the new hoses... ↡ Advertisement
