Honda Brakes

Called Kah Motor today to asked about the "weak" brake.

The technical advisor told me that this is a common "complain" from Civic and Stream owners !

He "claims" that the brake works as per normal, but due to the "softness", it makes the driver feel no confidence in braking ... however, actual braking distance is still within safety range.

Can drivers of Civics and Streams comments ?

Andrew..

KAH motor is right.. honda cars unlike Toyota are designed for soft braking. THere is a spoongy feeling on the brakes. Therefore, you need to apply more pressure.

Unlike Toyota Corollas, it is quick braking.

However, I know that BVO modfies Hondas braking to thos quick reponse braking type

my 2 cents.

In fact, I called Autofix (Chris), he told me the same thing about soft brakes ..

And he even ask me if I want to volunteer my car for him to test, coz he need to identify the exact problem .... so far, steel braided hoses didn't solve the problem ....

Of course steel braided does not solve.. it is the technology of Honda.

Go for BVO for 2nd Opinion..

Honestly, Chris rip me of once for my AutoTranny oil which I paid $90 where it cost only $30 bucks .. I was desperate lor.. so did not check things out.

Me no like Chris.... [shakehead][shakehead]

yer.. enthusiatic to get your $$$$....

He is only a few in Singapore that do Goodridge brake hose.. therefore, you have to part with $380++ to know it works or not..

my 2 cents.. you have other choices.. such as BVO or Ultramax.

The only thing is I worried if you change your brake system and then "touch wood", will insurance cover ? or void your Stream warranty ?

[confused]

That's what I am doing now ...

My previous Sunny also quite "jiak" .... probably for Honda, the first initial part are more of free play than actual braking, and the actual brake bite is much further down.

Hi,

Actually what the advisor said was true about the braking distance. Have encountered once when needed to do a e-brake when the car infront suddenly stop. At that moment tought that i would have hit the back of the car infront, surprising manage to stop in time. I guess the brakes still perform to what it is required.

Actually my rear tyres are on brake drum which i think that it will not have a quick braking as compared to a brake disc. Did tried a Honda city and it definately has a quick braking (rear is brake disc).

R u driving a 2L or 1.7L. Maybe a 2L will have a quicker brake.

Me driving a 2L ... in fact, there's once with Full Load (7 people) on CTE .. I brake hard and I thut nearly kena the Mercs in front !

Somehow, it did stop JUST inches away ! Really close shave man !

Oh BTW, the Stream, once fully loaded, the brake is really WEAK .. probably due to increased weight, need more breaking distance than normal saloon ....

Check if there's any deep scratches ... or it could be as simple as getting rusted ..

Mine was quite bad, I actually skimmed it ..

BTW, you driving 2.0L or 1.7L ?

Nice meeting you [thumbsup]
