Fuel consumption of chervolet cars

Currently, on the trip computer, it says 13.4 l/ 100 km...which is around 7.46 km/l. My 1.6l Vivant was around 9 to 10km/l. Not too bad for a 2.4l car.

For Captiva, 40% highway (average 80 km/h), 60% normal roads (average 50 km/h) allows me to travel around 360 km before the next fill. This depends on your usage too. The faster you drive (high gear driving), the further you get.

Also, filling up with 98 makes a lot of difference in power as compared to 95. I used to try grade 95 for 3 months(just switched back to 98 3 weeks ago), but the engine has too much vibration and noise. Switching back to 98 seems to solve this problem. So you may want to consider using 95.

All the best mate!

driving a Optra (M) since Jan 05.

Me stay in the west and used to work in Tuas...daily trip only abt 20 odd km but using highway...struggled to hit 12km/l.

Now working in the east...every day travelled via AYE/ECP..almost 70km per day.

managed to achieve 700 or km per tank...based on first lite up of the refuel indicator

which will be ~ 50 litres....so FC is abt 14 km/l.

The funny thing I can't understand about car spec are 2 main areas. FC and X sec from 0-100 meter. Lets talk about the FC. if you are comparing between 9 and 10 km/l. actually there are many other factor you must consider.

Road condition, load of your car, the start stop, your driving habits, your aircon setting, etc. I may use less fuel by driving a car that consumed 9 km/l by traveling longer distance.

The pick up speed difference of 2 sec isn't going to show in your daily driving if you don't have the skill to 'cheong'. I am sure you have seen ordinary cars speed pass big sport version cars when the traffic lights turn green.

Yes road handling is good! But also due to the weight, FC is much to be desire. Currently I am getting about 10.5 for FC.

do a search in this forum, many discussions before,

depending on manual , auto, sports rims (added weight) engine oil used,

urban or highway drive etc etc.

suggested average fc between 9-11 for those thread I read so far.

for full details, u can search again.

but I must say road handling is superb , becos of the weight.

Chevy FC not very good, for eg, my family's Cruze 1.6 auto, the FC is quite bad, getting 12l/100km, and that is on a 6 speed auto transmission. Can't imagine the 4 speed version.

I heard same engine as Optra, so FC might not be that fantastic.

Maybe haven't run-in yet. Be patient ! At the same time, check tyre pressure.

What do you expect? Such a heavy body hauled by a puny engine. Give it a 8-speed auto tranny and it will even get worse > too much and unnecessary shifting, sapping off the power.

If body is sub-tonne, believe 13km/l is easily achievable, Chevy or not Chevy.
