Kancil8888 Neutral Newbie December 21, 2004 Share December 21, 2004 hello, need advice from experts here. I am driving a kancil 850 car. Send in this little car for repairs due to gear spoilt.(cannot engage 1st & 2nd). Therefore, the workshop change a 2nd hand gear box and also change the clutch. According to the mechanic, the vehicle engine compartment is too small, therefore need to "hook" up the engine in order to access. 2 days later i collect the vehicle, pay up and leave. but i noticed some differences, the most jia lat is that the vehicle has no power at all. In the past i can drive 1st gear - 20km, 2nd gear 40km, 3rd gear 60, and 4th gear - 85km and 5th gear - 95 without dragging the vehicle. Now, 1st gear at 10plus km i need to change to 2nd. Worst is at 5th gear, travelling at 80 is drag to the little vehicle. I go back afew days, the mechanic change the timing belt($200) and say it should be better. But hell to him, it is still the same. I ask another frd's mechanic, he say probably due to "hook" up the engine and somehow did not assemble properly. ask me to go back to the workshop. I am not going back there to be their carrot again. furthermore, the fuel went down by about 80km. Use to drive abt 350km before topping up. Now 280km must top up already Experts, pls help here. really lost. what could have went wrong to the vehicle? Different gear box from the original? Hook up engine and did not assmble properly? ↡ Advertisement
Yeobh 4th Gear December 21, 2004 Share December 21, 2004 There is misalignment between the cluth assemble and the flywheel. Looks like the mech don't have a proper clutch alignment tool - he may have just use a broom stick with one end tapered to do the job.
Sky8807 1st Gear December 21, 2004 Share December 21, 2004 Probably the gearbox gear ratio is different from the original one. If same the speed and rpm should not be so far off.

Sky8807 1st Gear December 21, 2004 Share December 21, 2004 (edited) Rough estimate is like in any gear say 2,3 or 4 u can go at certain speed and now with the same gear cannot because it revving very loud alreadi, suspect the ratio is different. But in your case look like u can achieve the speed only the way the engine response seem different or work extra hard. maybe, new clutch need running in before revving hard. During installation did the mech miss anything, or did not connect back some small vacumn hoses. Edited December 21, 2004 by Sky8807
