AMSOIL rocks!

Like Fabiaman mentioned, AMSOIL spec-ed up to 25kmiles but in severe driving conditions like start-stop traffic, AMSOIL can last up to three times the manufacturer's interval.

My Volvo stats change oil 15k km for normal conditions and 5k for severe conditions, so AMSOIL can push up to 15k km for severe conditions in this case. I do stress that the oil filter should STILL be changed every 5000km.

For those unfamiliar with the discussion here abt AMSOIL's draining intervals, I have reproduced a short write up on the Engine Oil which MCF is selling.

PROVIDES EXTENDED DRAIN INTERVALS

AMSOIL High Performance Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil features a superior synthetic composition and advanced performance additives, performing much longer than competing conventional and synthetic oils. No other major oil manufacturer matches AMSOIL's 25,000-mile or one-year drain interval recommendations.

Does sound a bit far fetch to drain at 25k miles but this is direct words from the manufacturer. Also note this is base on US context, not that their cars are different from ours, but more of the driving conditions which is diff.

Andrew, guess it depends how much is the cost of that oil filter.

If its cheap like $10 each, I'd rather change it often like every 10k.

If its exp like $30, I'd be more inclined to believe them.... also bo pian because being expensive, you can't change the filter as often as you like (unless you have fat wallets)

Just curious, how can we change the oil filter without changing oil?

When you remove the filter, doesn't the oils spill out immediately?

Am I wrong? [lipsrsealed]

"doesn't the oils spill out immediately?"

Hi! there, Alfpoon,

Some oil will drip out, but not all. Replace with new filter and top-up.

Changing filter is pretty easy, depends on where your filter is located it may be reachable from the top.

A filter wrench will definitely help if U're considering DIY.

AMSOIL will last up to three times longer than manufacturer's recommendation, so if Alfa recommends 5k for severe driving (start-stop, constant high speed, etc) than it'll be 15k on AMSOIL [thumbsup]
