Hi,

I am new in this forum.

After reading through this thread, I am still very confused regarding the differences between the different grade of the Amsoil oils, e..g. 10W-40, 5W-30, 5W-40 and the series 2000.

I am currently driving a RAV4, so which will be a better one to used?

Thanks.

Hi Jailbird,

I'm also driving a 1.8L Rav4, 2004. Currently I'm using 5W-40 and the engine is very

smooth. So, Amsoil is a good choice.

By the way are u member in rav4expedition.com.

If not, pls do login and registered and u can get a lot of inform regarding Rav4.

Jailbird,

Any intention to buy Amsoil?? Why dun let me buy one carton of 12 bot and u share

4 bot, then I'll get another 8 bot for my next 2 services. (It's cheaper to buy one ctn.)

What say u ??

What grade u go for ? 10W-40 or 5W-40

Bro Chiqinhan,

I hear that RP cannot last for 10K, duno is it truth but it is much cheaper than

Amsoil.

Old engine suggest to go for thick oil like 40 or 50.

Just my 2 cents.

Actually 5w-40 : 5w = viscosity & 40 = temperture range

Marcos, might be interested to try Amsoil for next service. How much to buy by the box?

This is wrong explanation. 5W is the winter rating. Lower number = better cold weather pumpability. The second number is the viscosity of the oil when hot at 100 deg C which is close to the operating temperature of most engines.

Bro Marcos,

I have the intention to try Amsoil on my next service which will be due another 4 io 5 months down the road, I think. unsure.gif Very tempting to share with you on the bulk purchase but by doing so wun I have to disclose my identity to you....hahaha tongue.gif......joking nia.

Whether to use 10W-40 or 5W-40, I have abolutely no idea what are the difference between the various grade of the oil and which is the suitable one to use on my ride, for that matter. dizzy.gif

If you are using 5W-40 and it giving you good engine performance then I the choice should be obvious. smile.gif

Bro Jailbird,

That's what I believe so, since 5W-40 is ok for our engine. I think I shall stick

to use the same rate. I'll buy one ctn of this 5W-40 anytime by end of next month.

So, when u need it just contact me here in MCF or in R4E. No worry u just need

to disclose your id 4-5 months later. [sly][sly]
