Normal_aspirated Clutched December 11, 2004 Share December 11, 2004 (edited) Carburretor is the old technology using suction method to mix air & fuel. Injection method is where fuel is injected directly into each cylinder block & the Air/Fuel ratio is controlled by the ECU. My S$0.020..... Ahhan7 Neutral Newbie December 11, 2004 Share December 11, 2004 (edited) carburretor cars also needs tuning after using them for a while. the mixture of air/fuel ratio will go haywire (not exactly haywirse la but juz not the right amount of air/fuel ratio will be given to ur car) after sometime, therefore, needs tuning once in a while. the emission for caburretor is not as good as EFI cars. EFI cars dun need tuning like carburretor cars after being driven for some time. u can use and use and use without tuning. EFI cars have better performance over carburerrtor cars too. and emission wise of cos its better than carb cars. Normal_aspirated Clutched December 11, 2004 Share December 11, 2004 carburretor cars also needs tuning after using them for a while. the mixture of air/fuel ratio will go haywire yarlor, remember the old days, laochiao mechanics "tune by the ear" but nowadays with EFI you need laptop or notebook PC, liao....... Once a while use fuel-injectors cleaners or throttlebody cleaners......

Genie47 1st Gear December 11, 2004 Share December 11, 2004 Depends on the carb. SU carburetor are super simple and very powerful. Set and forget but the needles are the hard part. Only advance or retard ignition. Webers are very nice but like a computer. Many jetting settings to fiddle. Again on top of that advance or retard ignition. Carburetted cars can have very good emissions. AFR or carburetors are usually 17:1 for street machines. EFI calls for a range from 12-14:1.
Genie47 1st Gear December 11, 2004 Share December 11, 2004 You can play around with EFI very easily. I suggest you search for Megasquirt. These US guys got together to make a truly DIY and affordable ECU for EFI conversion projects.
Hoppe Clutched December 13, 2004 Share December 13, 2004 carb also cheap to replace if KO'ed I think. Less headache for servicing since can be tuned by ear...

Genie47 1st Gear December 18, 2006 Share December 18, 2006 EFI don't fool around unless you want to drill holes and stuff. Go Malaysia and get Perodua 1.0L car carburetor. ↡ Advertisement
