Cannondale Neutral Newbie February 23, 2011 Share February 23, 2011 Hi guys, I'm actually looking at second hand Peugeot 308, Opel Astra-H and Fiat Grande Punto. Could anyone give me some insights on which is the cheapest to maintain? 1. FC 2. Insurance 3. Road Tax 4. Servicing & Maintenance Was actually still thinking of the Subaru Impreza 1.6 but found out from a lot of people that its really a extremely thirsty car? Anyone can help? Thanks! Nerdyboyz23 Neutral Newbie March 8, 2011 Share March 8, 2011 Hi all, I was actually looking to purchase a 2007 Opel Astra GTC after having my Nissan Sunny scrapped recently. Therefore seeking advices fr past & exisitng Opel owners. Basically, is the maintenance ( wear & tear ) of Opel car expensive. Is a Opel reliable technically ( engine & electronic features of the car). Lastly apart from the Auto Eurokars, are there any other authorised dealers we can go to for cheaper servicing or replacement of parts ( had heard abt CK Motors in AMK Ave 10)
Meganut 2nd Gear March 8, 2011 Share March 8, 2011 (edited) We drive Opels.. We have the first two generation vectra and now a zafira and an astra H ... we sold off our vectra C 1.8.. so from here you can tell how much we love opel cars and how good the experiences are... the car is steady and reliable.. on nsh we did 200km/h reading taken from gps, speedo metre says 205km/h, the car is veryyyy steady... cant tell or feel we were travelling 200km/h.. even our first generation vectra we kept it for 8 years :) we sold off cos we wanted to upgrade, then later we bought zafira cos our family expanded hahahaha... You need to know that most opel uses MTA gearbox.. The latest vectra, C before kenah replaced by insigna is not on MTA for the 2.2, but the 1.8 is a MTA.. Astra H 1.6 is MTA, 1.8 is not.. Latest Zafira is MTA.. not sure if the one you are looking at is mTA... MTA is a gearbox either you love or hate... my family lovessss it... so do most opel drivers who have more than 2 generation of opel... try to see if you can get use to the gearbox... CK motors is a veryyyy good workshop... they are super good for wheel alignment.. my dad goes to AD, only certain things he gives to CK to do... i seen merc slk, cls and bmw 5 and 7 plus Lambo and maserati in CK before.. CK specialise in Opel and Saab.. they must be quite good.. to be honest with you, conti cars maintence is usually not cheap.. We had a 2007 Impreza for a few months, that car veryyyyy thirsty.. dun quite like it... maybe the new one is better? not sure cos long time never go check out cars, busy lah.. suggest you check opel car owner forums, maybe the pple there can help you better... the opels are my dad.. i drive cheaper car like my msia car ard a usually cos i roam the streets at night or weekends and i drive also a trusty corolla for work so for opel cant advise properly or cant help much... hope opel club can help you..all the best Edited March 8, 2011 by Meganut ↡ Advertisement
