Hi all - We have heard so much about the new Octavia and how good it will be. Comparing to the old Octavia, what are the key difference and if the additional premium is worth it.Any comparison done before?

Hi Kahlid. Think one of the main diferences is the FSI engine. Plus a little changes here and there. To do a fair comparison, you should actually test drive the car itself and compare with someone who owns the current octy but unfortunately that is not possible currently. The new octy is not even on our shores yet so how to compare? What we can compare is only based on paper specs which we read over the website which I think might not be 100% accurate. Morever, we dont know exactly what the new octy selling price is. [:/]

You will only know when you get to test drive it around, feel the car and see the car physically. I dont believe in paper specs. Lets presume if the selling price is at least $10-$15k above the current model. Then I dont think its worth it liao. [:|]

I saw the new Octavia in Switzerland, the design now really makes it more refined and elegant. Quite nice actually.

I have been looking at the new Octavia for quite a while now. I am surprise the the kerb weight for the new octavia is now about 1400kg, up from about 1200kg of the old model.

Is this a printing error on the technical broucher?

new: http://www.skoda.co.uk/skoda3g/content/sho...a_technical.pdf

old: http://www.skoda.co.uk/skoda3g/content/sho...a/technical.pdf

In contrast, the kerb weight for the Toyota Altis is only 1175kg, Megane II is about 1300kb (I think). Wah... Continental cars are so much heavier.... that explains the FC.

Btw, I believe most of the new Octavia sold in SG will be the 1.6MPI(102bhp) model rather than the 1.6 FSI.
