well actually am really looking forward to it cos i will get a smoother and more responsive drive for a while with the change of engine oil and spark plug.

but on the other hand becos going back to agent (KM), am relectant to pay for over-priced engine oil and labour only to get some sub-standard service.

these are some of my experiance...

- engine oil was top-up till it crosses the max line

- used spark plugs were left in the engine bay

- despite telling them about noise, they either say no time to check, can't hear when they tested it etc

- was told i can't bring my own engine oil when i found out later some have done it before with no problem.

- either can't or cldn't be bother to check on my not so important complains kept saying they can't find out what is wrong.

just voicng my frastration and sharing my experiance...

dude, every car distributor technician also like that one la. Those in BM I believe is worse.

These guys are only interested to sell. They take no pride in maintenance work.

ya, this is what i hear as well...

my conclusion is to know enu for ourselves so we know how to and not be too dependant on others, never mind we are still require to pay

thanks to the many on this board, i've learnt alot.

[:)] I know !!! [thumbsup]

just that for the technically un-inclined and those with limited resources such as $$ to try out or limited space etc. There seemed to be limited option.

What i can think of is this... engine oil - i can get a good recomendation to try it out. This i can go to my kaki's car work shop to get him to help. Beyond that even such as spark plugs i understand that installation is also important so i'm hesitant to DIY. cos risk wrongly installed.

You need Jedi ooops DIY master to guide you, young padawan....sly.gif Firstly.... get yourself a hex driver set. It is the weapon of choice by the DIY Knight. Secondly, an attitude to learn. As long as the instructions are adhered to, you will not be wrong.

Which KM service centre did you go to? I get mine done at Leng Kee, and they have absolutely no problems with me bringing my own engine oil and oil filter (saving $$$). Thus far they have been quite reasonable and even "polished" my windscreen when I complained of juddering (and I don't use rainX).

I'll be doing my 20K servicing in a couple of weeks as well... [sweatdrop]

I just did a spark-plug and oil change outside (of KMC)...or rather two oil changes a while ago....engine oil and manual gearbox oil. I got to witness the entire servicing process and was very happy with it.

been going to leng kee for quite a while already. My guess is I spoke with the wrong chap or they pulled a fast one on me.

just to share this little tip. If u wish to, get them to used some silicon spray on those black rubber runs for the windows. They used it on my ride, it condition the rubber so that u don't need to replace them so soon, makes a nice snug noise when windows are shut and most important of all, it seemed to me that the windows fit very well into the rubber runs after that. It didn't cost me anything.

can i know what engine oil you using ? What about spark plug ? Normal ones ?

Thanks

Yup, Borneo Motors is confirmed at least 10 times worse.

They sell too many cars without making provision for after sales maintenance. And if you don't send your car back to them for servicing, they void your warranty.

But the irony is that they cannot even cope when Toyota owners send their cars back to them for servicing. It's always a rushed job.

Thanks, I'll certainly ask them for it when I go for my 20K.

Using Mobil 1 gold (gold bottle gold cap, 0W40). Haven't tried other lubes, but might try them once i finish mine. Been using Denso Iridiums IK16 since my 1K servicing, but don't really feel any difference [:/] . Probably switch back to the free NGK-R's that KM gives free during 30K servicing with them (if you do all your servicing with them).

I was actually amused when I sent my car for the 1K service. I brought my Delphi Sync oil and the tech happily accepted it. It costs me ard $24 for the servicing. The tech is knowlegable and impart some tips in maintaining the car too. I always have negative impression on Jap car after sales service until I visited KM service centre at Ubi.

Neutral Newbie

I understand your frustrations in these wkshops.

tats y after 1st servicing, i neber go back to these places anymore

basically outside wkshops charge lower, better services and explain to me on the problems.

the best part is i can see wat the mechanics are doing to my car which i cannot see at these agents wkshops.

btw, i frequent this wkshop called proswift.

u can chk it out at www.proswift.com.sg

cheers n all the best!

this really sucks, we pay serious money for the cars, get tied down with some unreasonable warranty crap and this is what we get.

i am a little surprised to hear that BM is that much worse. KM, sometimes u do get the better ones, but shamefully this is few and far in between.

Hey, thanks for the feedback on the Iridium plugs [thumbsup] cos am seriously thinking about trying out. I have good experiance with Mobil as well on my previuos car. I hv only used shell and mobil and hv better impression of mobil. Also thinking trying out other less-advertised oil, don't wnat to pay too much for advertisement if u know what i mean ...
