Michel Neutral Newbie November 2, 2002 Share November 2, 2002 Hi people, Need some of your brain powers on this one. It seems that my car is experiencing a squeeky sound (sounds like braking) from the wheel(s) and it only happens occasionally. I'm not sure if it's from the front or the rear axle. Has anyone experience this b4? What do u think is the probabe cause for this? Thanks a million ↡ Advertisement
Pathfinders Neutral Newbie November 2, 2002 Share November 2, 2002 (edited) Might be the brake pad dust that's causing the sqeeky sound. Your rear should be drum brake. I suggest sending your car to a mechanic. Not a big problem. Edited November 2, 2002 by Heueriq
Michel Neutral Newbie November 2, 2002 Author Share November 2, 2002 Hi Heueriq, I don't think it's the brake pads cos i wasn't braking.. i'm just wondering whether is it axle or bush problem?
Pathfinders Neutral Newbie November 2, 2002 Share November 2, 2002 Better send it to the mechanic then.
Vtim 3rd Gear November 2, 2002 Share November 2, 2002 When did the sound happens? When your going across humps/bumpy roads? Or when just straight, smooth road?
Michel Neutral Newbie November 4, 2002 Author Share November 4, 2002 On straight, even roads.....The sound occurs only on very few occasions.
Silverado Neutral Newbie November 4, 2002 Share November 4, 2002 Hi there: Check if the pads are worn out.
Vtim 3rd Gear November 6, 2002 Share November 6, 2002 On straight, even roads.....The sound occurs only on very few occasions. Based on the above, my guess is the sound may not be caused by your suspension or steering Could be related to your wheels (bearings ?) or the drive shaft (CV joins?) Michel Neutral Newbie November 6, 2002 Author Share November 6, 2002 (edited) The sound seems to come on an on-off basis. I'm still trying to determine when the sound surfaces. Will keep you guys updated. thanks Edited November 6, 2002 by Michel
Zrun Neutral Newbie November 15, 2002 Share November 15, 2002 (edited) Try pushing down on the suspensions to hear for squeaks.. If not... try the hood.. Push on hood to hear if there are any squeaks.. If so, just spray some lubrication on the front catch. My car has this "bird chirp" occasionally.. it turned out to be the hood latch. Hitman Neutral Newbie November 15, 2002 Share November 15, 2002 Its your drive shaft joints ...... how old is your car ??
Michel Neutral Newbie November 16, 2002 Author Share November 16, 2002 It's 3-1/2 yrs old... Sent my car to the mechanic today. Problem is....it doesn't chip during the 'test drive'. So, he can't do anything. Besides, it does 'chirp' often..only ocassionally. Hence, the predicament.
Seeheng Neutral Newbie March 16, 2003 Share March 16, 2003 Michel, My car is beginning to have the squeay sound when I pushed down my suspensions. What would that indicate ?
Michel Neutral Newbie March 16, 2003 Author Share March 16, 2003 See Heng, Sorry, i have no idea what that could be amounted to...perhaps, it could be the absorber itself? I doubt it's the spring.
