Maintenance for the Rex is still cheaper than a branded Conti. In fact, there's 2 pro Subaru workshops that can maintain your car at very reasonable rates.

If you think the interior is nothing to shout about, you haven't seen the done up ones with JDM Optitron meters (with startup display), the Genome triple meters or Defi, the seats, knobs, etc...... Just that the stock ones given is to save costs. You'll be spoilt for choice for aftermarket parts as wellas from half cuts which is very much cheaper.

3 defi's with the link control will set you back ard $1100 (but if you go for the controller, sensors and the display unit, it should set you back ard $700).

For me between a scoobie rex and a DC5, its no fight. Rex it is (way more bang for your buck and lots more mod potential (did i also mention more bhp gains per dollar then what you would modding a VTEC engine?)As for turbo's being higher maintanence??? Thanks a load of BS (mostly) Just remember to get an auto turbo timer, warm up the engine before going at rpm's that it starts to spool and if possible get the oil and oil filter changed ever 5000kms to ensure that the oil is thin enough to keep flowing through the turbo quickly (as the oil is used to keep the turbo cool).

Try Espace service centre in ubi as they specialise in scoobies as are very reasonable in price.

You have got to be lucky coz mine MY03 came with the low spoiler. The clutch is indeed stiff but you'll get used to it like I do. [laugh]

But do take note as mentioned earlier that there is difficulty in engaging reverse gear due to the design of the transmission. I'm not sure whether it is the case for MY05.

As for maintenance, the tyres should last you 33,000km + before you change em. I would say 2yrs depending on driving profile. The FC on my rex is excellent I would say considering its turbocharged and squeezing 450km from occassional spirited drive. If your driving up KL, the mileage would be even better then 500km at 110kph with hard driving. If you intend to modify the car, then you should know warranty is void and if anything happens, maintenance fees will ultimately hit the roofs.

As for me, my car is stock and ever since I purchased this car, I paid nothing but fuel. [laugh]

When I bought the rex, I could really tell the difference why people are willing to pay between $150,000-$260,000 for a BMW 3 series when they can get a more powerful car that cost $140,000. (earlier price)

So I guess it really comes down to what you need and want in a car. For comfort wise the rex is pretty comfortable as both me and modeost drove at 1 stretch 200km non stop. My non bias point of view is that the Rex's interior is nothing to shout about. So if design isn't what your after, then it should be a problem. I think the MY05 looks are better then the MY03 of coz so I guess its personal preference.

Having said all these, I'll still stick to BMW when I fly back after studies [laugh]

Good luck with the find. Nothing beats sitting at home finding ridiculous reasons to drive the car even though its 5 mins walk away [thumbsup]

i thought all along u drive a bmw......now a WRx? [sly]

but the only setback is you can't sell the car easily due to:

1)mkt flooded with it.

2)brand new is very cheap....

Hmm.... maybe can wait another 1-2 years for the 2nd hand market then. idea.gifidea.gifidea.gif
