That's marketing for you. Leafspring suspension can also be written to sound damn great [:p] Anyway, like I said I wouldn't mind another drive in the Troll to re-evaluate, but I still stand by my impressions along Portsdown.

Hi, I do not own the Saab but I took the 93 Aero, 93 SS and the 93 Troll for test drives. That was when I was looking for Forced Induction (i.e. FI or aka Turbo) and I compared them against the S40T5 and the S60T5 (took those out too and all to Portsdown road).

FYI, the 93 SS and the Troll do not have trip computer. They also do not have the Electronic Stability Program that is standard on the Aero and the T5s. What they have is only Traction Control. (I might not have used the right terms to describe the "electronic helps" --as I do not have the brochure with me-- but I think you will get the idea). The TC and the ESP are really useful if you tend to drive the car to its limits.

Coming from the AR156, I find the the steering lock to lock ratio of the 93s and the T5s are big and does not make for quick lane changes. My first impression of the 93s and the T5s were overly assisted steering. Kinda numb.

Having said that, get the 93 (any variants) or the T5s if you are concerned about NCAP crash ratings and are interested to have FI cars that are really comfy to cruise in.

Thx for the feedback [thumbsup]

U r right for the non-Aero version only has TCS

Traction control system (TCS)

Traction Control System, TCS, distributes drive force to the wheel with the best grip, reducing the risk of slipping while accelerating on a slippery surface.

And for Aero has ESP

Electronic Stability Program

ESP gives you the benefits of the TCS anti-spin system and helps to prevent any tendency to skid. ESP constantly compares the car's movements with your steering input. If the car shows any tendency to start a skid, the system brakes one or more wheels as necessary. The system may also reduce the throttle opening if this is necessary to help maintain controlled progress.

Seems that ESP is better than that of TCS [bigcry]

No $$$ for Aero version [:(]

You are welcome.

At this price point there is nothing with the best of everything [laugh] .

So ultimately, it is a case of asking yourself what you really want.

Go for more test drives, look are more cars etc. then do up a list of Pros & Cons for each car you shortlisted. That is the fun part. It is like when you were courting a gal [sly][laugh] .

Don't short change yourself. The "newness" feeling will wear off eventually. Get a car that will keep the grin on your face even after that "newness" feeling is gone. See... it is sort of going from courtship to choosing the gal that you eventually want to marry. [scholar][laugh][laugh]. In good times and bad, for richer and for poorer..... [inlove][gorgeous]

The ESP and TCS are there to protect us in case we lose control. I don't think anyone buys a SAAB to whack it like crazy around the corners eg in wet weather. If you like doing such things such as taking your car to the limits, then I would think you would be better off getting a racing car like WRX STI or EVO etc. SAABs are designed for effortless cruising and overtaking not hardcore racing and cornering.

People buy a SAAB 9-3 for various reasons:

-- Good looks

-- High safety

-- Good performance, overtaking with ease

-- Different car from others

They don't buy it because it is/has:

-- cheap

-- cheap maintenance

-- modest depreciation

I have heard people say SAAB has a high markup. I have also heard that SAAB has the best 4 cylinder turbo engine in the world. At the end of the day good things don't come cheap and cheap things don't come good. You pay peanuts you get monkeys. There are no 2 ways about it.

Nemesis,

if I were you, with already the intent to commit a new ride now, I would have gone for the 93SS. I am jsut wanting to hold on driving my ride alittle longer and adopt a wait-n-see attitude first [:p]

but having said that, if your top concern is always value for $$, then I guess LGT is for you!
